To warn you the film Show Dogs contains the wrong kind of grooming

Was going to take the kids until I read the reviews.

Movie has a theme of touching other's "private parts" against their will. Movie suggests a good way of handling it when someone is fondling your privates against your will is to go to a "zen place" in your mind

I read this earlier, and from the title alone, was rolling my eyes. However, having read it, they make a good point, and my kids won't be seeing it.

That is just awful. I was looking forward to watching, but I will give it a miss. Would really upset me.

I am astonished that any movie maker can think this is appropriate in a kids’ film, and that no-one thought to question it.

I feel quite angry as it as only by chance I saw this stuff.

I almost didn't click the article I found online earlier, but pleased I did.

Fucking hell. Considering all this #MeToo stuff.... and this is a kids’ film?? Ugh.

How the hell did that get passed by the censor for children to view.

It sounds horrible enough reading it in the context of the film and from the dog's perspective; given that the dog is able to voice his objections gives the dog a more human, childlike personae.

Change the dog into a child and it goes from nasty to horrific.

Totally inappropriate in a children's film.

You what?!

How the actual fuck is this allowed to pass as a kids film?!

Wow....at first I thought it was an over reaction as duh it's a dog. These things need checking especially in a show standard type scenario.

But the fact is, it's a talking dog that talks about how it doesn't want to be touched there. And being told to go to their happy place whilst being touched without their consent is a terrible message to give to children. Even in dog form.

Disgusted

I saw this article earlier today and from the title I thought it would be oversensitive tripe looking for offence where none exists. Then I read the article and was amazed that this film is being marketed as a children's film, it promotes a completely unsuitable message about bodily autonomy and unwanted/inappropriate touching.

That's shocking! Almost fits in with that paedophile "manifesto" that was going viral the other week.

Going to your happy place whilst being touched without your consent?

I don't even know where to begin with this one.

I'm appalled.

I didn't have much interest anyway as the film looked odd and slightly sinister. Now I have zero interest. Shocked that the message was put in a kids film

I saw this on twitter earlier and usually I’m a bit 🙄🙄🙄 about snowflakey over-sensitivity but this is horrific!

I too initially thought over-reaction, until I read further. And then I was appalled.

I saw this earlier and also thought it would be a huge over reaction, but we will not be seeing this film!

It’s already doing pretty badly ratings-wise, not just because of this. Interestingly it’s directed by the same guy who did the live-action Scooby-Doo films ages ago which also did badly reviews-wise.

I have been showing and breeding dogs for twenty years, so I'm pretty much immune to the grabbing of dog privates, and went to read the review thinking it was going to be overly uptight parents complaining about something that is standard practice at a dog show, but even I think it sounds disgusting. The premise of the show sounds fun, a bit of a twist on the Miss Congeniality movie, and there is plenty to poke fun at with dog shows, but this sounds genuinely awful and really inappropriate. .

Another one that thought the OP was overreacting until I clicked the link. Children really laughed at the trailer but won't be taking them now for sure 😕
