To think transgender women really have no idea what being a women is ? . Maybe it's time we had a 3rd Gender . Be interested in hearing what real women & transwomen feel ?

Trans women are real women.

MissGiddyPants · 16/05/2018 22:29

Oh dinosaur. You are wrong

Buzzlightyearsbumchin · 16/05/2018 22:29

I feel that this subject has been done to death.

They know what their version of womanhood is like, just as I know what mine is and you know what yours is.

bert3400 · 16/05/2018 22:29

No they are not ..they are trans.

Transwomen are real women. This subject has been done to death. You aren't adding anything new to the 3000 other trans threads on this site.

bert3400 · 16/05/2018 22:31

Buzzlightyearsbumchin you can always not read this post .

OP posts:
bert3400 · 16/05/2018 22:32

So you don't think a 3rd gender is an option?

Transwomen are men. They may be men with a strongly and sincerely held belief that they ought to have been women, and I recognise that this must be deeply distressing. If that distress is alleviated by " presenting as a woman" (ie adopting the culturally specific stereotypes of femininity in our society), then I have no beef with that, provided that they don't impinge on women's rights in the process.

CaliforniaDream · 16/05/2018 22:35

@bert3400 I don't think gender is a binary and there are many people who don't identify as men or women. But transwomen are women and transmen are men. Maybe the experiences of a transwoman are different to yours - but then I expect my experiences of being a woman are very, very different to a lot of ciswomen's. There is no one way to be a woman, no set of criteria we all have to tick. We all have our own experiences and the range and variety of those is part of being human.

Catfacecats · 16/05/2018 22:35

Trans women are not women. HTH.

dinosaursandtea · 16/05/2018 22:35

A third gender is an option - there are plenty of people who are non binary or genderqueer. Trans women, however, do not usually fit into that category.

FermatsTheorem · 16/05/2018 22:36

Those of you saying "transwomen are women" - what do you mean by "woman" when you say this?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/05/2018 22:36

I agree OP.

ghostyslovesheets · 16/05/2018 22:37

Trans women are trans women

they were born male

They want to be female

They are not women

hth

lostinjapan · 16/05/2018 22:37

What about women wanting to be men? Or are we cool with them? Just wondering why you would single out transwomen in particular, when you could ask exactly the same question about transmen?

CaliforniaDream · 16/05/2018 22:38

Do those of you saying 'hth' think it's some kind of magic trump card that proves your point...?

ferntwist · 16/05/2018 22:38

80-95% of men who say they are women keep their male genitalia according to Gires/Sex & Gender Ethics Society.
Of course they’re not women. Grow up

ghostyslovesheets · 16/05/2018 22:39

no

what IS a woman @CalifoniaDream?

Pratchet · 16/05/2018 22:39

Sex is binary. There's male and female and you can't swap! No matter what surgery you have. Intersex people are male or female too. Transwomen are men. Crossing gender boundaries is good! But you can't change sex, and it hurts women to pretend that you can.

GladAllOver · 16/05/2018 22:41

A person with a penis cannot be a woman.
A person with a penis is a man.
A man with his penis removed is a transwoman.

There is no argument about this and it is not a matter of opinion.
This is a biological fact.

LightofaSilveryMoon · 16/05/2018 22:41

@CaliforniaDream : TIMs are men.

Please do not insult women with the stupid, gaslighting, made-up term "cis".

There's nothing "cis" about us women who certainly do not identify with our own oppression.

I hope this is going to make sense...
I was born a woman and I am still one, but I have to admit that I have no idea what it feels like to be a woman. I know what it feels like to be me. I have feminine personality traits but I have many that are often more associated with masculinity. I don't think anyone can say what it feels like to be a woman.

DesignedForLife · 16/05/2018 22:43

They are genetically male. They have never had nor will never have to endure a period or childbirth. They are Transwomen. As above said, sex is binary.

Strongmummy · 16/05/2018 22:43

Why are you so fearful of trans women ? What do you think they’re going to do to you? How are they imposing on women’s rights? I just don’t understand why there is so much passive aggression towards trans women on mumsnet !!!
