When do you become the better person?

At what stage do you draw a line under a bad experience and walk away for the sake of your mental health? I'm desperately trying to want to take the moral high ground despite having a strong urge to tell someone to seriously fuck right off? I need a document from my ex. My ex husband's new wife wants a grovelling apology for an argument we had six years ago that was started by her!! I can get a copy from the court but it's expensive and time consuming. I can grovel and save myself a few quid, or I can let rip and be out of pocket. I don't give a flying fig about the ex, she's welcome to him!! WWYD?
