To think Katie Price should have finished more of the marathon?

She was running it for her mum who is dying of a lung disease.
She only walked for 6 miles and then bailed. People saw her going straight to a restaurant afterwards so it’s not as if she needed urgent medical help.
I get that she had a sore knee and it was a hot day but I think it’s bad for her fans who sponsored her and she could only manage 6 miles. She fully admits she did no training for it either

She said she did do training

Conditions were gruelling yesterday, and Matt Campbell (Masterchef) has died as a result.

Everyone who stopped or walked yesterday made the right decision

There has already been a thread about her.

I think she should have put more effort into training and then maybe she would have been able to finish but she didnt and she couldnt, she still got lots of publicity for her charity and for herself which I'm sure was her only aim.

I think she deserves credit for even attempting it. Her mum is terminally ill (pending a lung transplant) and she did train.

You really have to think about the long term impact of walking on that knee. I certainly wouldn’t have walked twenty miles on a sore knee to appease a few critics!

Publicity and getting people talking about lung disease.

She succeeded. Here you are talking about her!

Well done Katie!

Well I'm sorry but it was inevitable that she wasn't going to finish, with that prep. She didn't raise a lot (c£1.3k I think) but at least it was something - and I assume that nobody forced people to donate.
Why shouldn't she take her Mum out for a meal aftee?? They don't have a lot of time left together after all; I imagine her Mum was proud of her for trying.
I'm not a particular KP fan, but your post reads as mean & bitter. If you can't say anything nice, and all that.

Unless you were there you can't really judge. My dh was there and he said the conditions were gruelling and people were struggling. It's far more sensible to pull out rather than end up dead like that poor guy.

shut up.

She did 6 miles more than you did.

Sorry Rosey but I can’t agree with you....... she did a PA at a nightclub the night before FFS! She knew there was no way she would complete it so why enter it? Especially when there were so many other people who entered and don’t get places?

My Mum died of lung cancer last year, and what has her walking less than 1/4 of the marathon with in a giant lung costume done? Really? Not much IMO.

There were plenty of other ways she could have attempted to raise awareness / money for her cause. Not that she even did the latter yesterday! It was just blatant self promotion.

ffs why does she do this? She was "running" it with Peter Andre in 2009 and did the same thing. Bit of half hearted running then gave up. I felt sorry for Peter Andre as I went past as he clearly wanted to gonfaster but she kept holding him back. She's had at least one other pathetic attempt in the meantime too that i know of. Its just a publicity stunt. i hope she at least donates a wedge.

As someone who has applied for a place many times and never got one I do feel a bit aggrieved that she did so little. And £1.3k for charity is pretty pathetic for a celebrity - most charities require an ordinary mortal to underwrite sponsorship of £2,000 for a London marathon place.

She should have trained for it.
What did she used to say "never underestimate the Pricey"?
Pity the Pricey couldn't actually train and plan ahead really.

RoseyOldCrow - I agree completely. I too am no particular KP fan, but conditions yesterday were much hotter than most runners had experienced during training. Did people really want to see her collapse? If she felt she could not go on then she was right to stop, it was the sensible thing to do. I am sure she will continue to raise money for this charity in other ways.

Publicity stunt or not the conditions were awful and TBH I don't blame her for bailing if it wasn't a publicity stunt.

The last marathon she ran caused her a miscarriage didn't it? Who the fuck cares why she stopped, none of your business really. It won't save her mother.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 23/04/2018 14:01

Katie Price doesn’t take a place that one of the ballot entries are after.

She turned up, gave it a go and bailed when it got too much. She’d done 10km in almost 2 hours, giving her a predicted finish time of over 7 hours IF she’d been able to keep going at that pace.

She did the right thing. I’m no fan of KP but the likelihood of her completing was slim - what is the right time to pull out?

At least she didn’t cheat her way to a medal...

MushroomGravy · 23/04/2018 14:02

And yes, she could have finished it and died like other people have done. Glad someone explained it was a lung constume as saw it briefly come on the computer and thought she was a butterfly and was a bit Confused

Might need to get to specsavers

I think she should have chosen a challenge that was more achievable to her. It's so hard to get a place for the London marathon, so I think to enter, you should have the intention of running (not walking) and finishing.

There are so many other things she could have done to raise awareness and money for charity that would have suited her better.

It is NOT hard for celebrities to get a London Marathon place. They do not take places that the general public applied for.
