AIBU?

To refuse to sleep in my room tonight?

Had a long day out (birthday week) and only just got home. Putting stuff away and I feel a ridiculously sharp sting. I thought it could be a thorn from a flower or something but no, i see a massive wasp on my floor! In the time it took for me just to plug the hoover in, it’s gone and I can’t find it!

My bedroom is a shit tip. There’s clothes / stuff everywhere as I have barely been at home recently and have been rushing out from 7am to now-ish. There’s balloons, flowers, boots/shoes, areas underneath furniture etc that the bastard could be hiding in. A lot of stuff in my room is black as well (like my bedding) so I’m not quite sure how to find it without being injured again

My finger fucking hurts and has swollen up. It attacked me completely unprovoked. I’m scared to stay in my room in case it stings me again. Can anyone help me treat my swollen finger, and advise on what to do tonight? How can I flush it out? I’m not even sure how it got in - no windows were open.

I think with wasp stings you have to treat them with vinegar.... But I don't know how!

Wash your finger with soap then apply something cold to it. Yeah, I wouldn’t sleep in there either. Before you go to bed wrap it so it doesn’t get infected.

This "attack" wasn't unprovoked. You scared the shit out of it. Shake your sheets and go to bed. You'll be fine.

Aquamarine1029 · 20/04/2018 02:18

It's not going to get infected, ffs. It's a wee sting. You'll survive.

BabychamSocialist · 20/04/2018 03:02

As long as you keep it clean you'll be fine. If it's swelling, take anti-inflammatories and put an ice pack on it. I wouldn't be sleeping in the room, but I hate wasps and insects!

Wasp stings do hurt like a bugger though, especially compared to a bee sting.

Yeah vinegar is supposed to do the trick.
No way would I be sleeping in the wasp’s lair.

I didn’t think wasps were around until later in the summer. It sounds like a bee not that it makes a lot of difference I guess.

SaucyJane · 20/04/2018 03:48

Oh it does make a difference - a nice useful bee will have died, whereas an evil angry pointless arse daggered wasp will have lived on to sting again!

A wasp wouldn't bother me, but if it were a spider I wouldn't be seen dead (of fear) in there until I'd seen its corpse and spider funeral, so YANBU! Hope your hand feels better by now.

I had a huge wasp in our room last night, luckily I was able to evict him but they are about early.

Hope your finger feels better this morning.

I evicted a wasp from my house yesterday namechange.

Hope you got some sleep OP!
