To think periods and Hollywood waxes shouldn't mix?

So I've got a Hollywood wax booked for Monday. First time I've been to this beautician. Tonight I've unexpectedly gotten my period (on the implant and this is the first in 6 months). Should I cancel my waxing. Would it be disgusting for the beautician to wax me (everything off Hollywood) while I'm wearing a tampon?

Got a meet up with lover on Thursday and want to be fuzz free down there, help.

Don't cancel! Just use a fresh tampon before you go in. I done a lot of research before my first hollywood and this issue came up a lot. If anything, let the person waxing you know you're on your period but your using a fresh tampon.

You can but ask. I’ve done it before in a similar situation (as they said it was ok). I made sure I was squeaky clean and new tampon in just before the wax. ‘Twas fine. Surely the flow won’t be heavy come Monday anyway?

I've heard it's more painful to get a wax down there when you're on, as your hormones make you more sensitive to pain (apparently, according to Google).

I've had Hollywood waxes for the last 3 and a bit years (just started laser hair removal now though) and was told by the salon I went to they wouldn't / couldn't do it during my period.

Get some baby wipes and make sure everything is super clean before going in. New tampon- with no string is possible so no chance of it being caught in the wax!

It's up to the individual therapist. I have done it and it makes no difference to me. However I can understand why some salons have this policy. Best thing to do is check before you go.

I still get mine done. Use a fresh tampon and tuck the string up inside too, so the outside looks like normal. My salon always leaves out baby wipes so customers can “freshen up” if they want to.

Courteous to check with the salon/beautician I think but those I know wouldn't mind.

But yea you're likely to be more sensitive to pain at this time. Ibuprofen or aspirin works better than paracetamol to counteract the sensitivity due to hormones I forget why.

Fresh tampon and cut the string short (so you can grab it but not hanging out/visible).

I doubt you'd be the first an experienced beautician has seen, I'd expect she (or he) would simply tuck the string in out of their way.

This was my first thought too

I would reschedule, op. Surely it's painful enough without the worry of your tampon being pulled out at high speed.

I know this is a serious thread, but

I don't go just before, during or just after my period. Because I am a woosie then and it hurts way more.....

I would go on Wednesday if I were you......

Whether it's the salon's policy or not I wouldn't, it's grim. Just rebook for Wed. If you can't go wed, do a bit of DIY grooming.

From the other side; please don't.
If clients ask me, I always advise them to re-book for a few days later when they're finished their period. There have been many occasions when I've found out half way through a wax either by noticing the tampon string hidden away, or by noticing traces of blood on my gloves or on the cotton pad when I'm cleansing - yes this does happen! It's not pleasant for us.
Re-book for the Wednesday if you need to be fuzz free for Thursday.

God grim anyway. Just shave it yourself!

I would hate to be a beautician and I was a nurse doing all sorts but to people who had no choice.

It depends on your period I think. If you have a light period then if you remove a tampon beforehand and use a baby wipe, it will be like you're not on. If your period is medium-heavy, you need to have the courtesy for the beautician to reschedule.
