Can I get dinner for 2 for £1.80?

Due to temporarily not having access to bank cards and not being able to go into a bank branch until tomorrow so withdraw some cash I have £1.80 in change and need to get dinner for myself and DH. We don't have much in the house but do have the usual cupboard staples of condiments but not ingredients as such- we have been away so no veg etc in.

What can I get from a supermarket to feed us both tonight? He has a big appetite. Our closest supermarkets are Sainsburys, waitrose and one of those little Tescos which is open later today.

Thank you!

If u have red lentils - carrots and onions would make huge pot of carrot and lentil soup.

Pop into M&S food 30 mind before it closes! It’s doable! Good luck

Agree with pasta. Value range pasta, tin tomatoes, onion and any other veg you can afford - or a tin of kidney beans/chick peas. Fry onion, add tomatoes and herbs/garlic if you have them, cook until reduced.

Loaf of bread. Beans on toast for dinner, toast for breakfast. Hopefully, you will have a tin of beans or spaghetti in the cupboard.
Or buy two big baking potatoes, and see what you have left to spend on a filling. Again baked beans, or tuna, both of which you might have in the cupboard.

Run out now & get some reduced stuff. Normally 10p bargains in Morissons/Tesco etc 3pm Sun.

Definitely have a look in the reduced section. You could find something amazing for an amazing price. Otherwise I'd do something like a pasta bake

Thanks everyone. So what we have in is 2 beef stock cubes, brown rice, some butter, some chillis, one small tin of beans and a frozen packet of mince in the freezer.

I assume you have looked down the sofas, cars and bags for spare change. Pasta really is your best option as you can buy a big value bag in Tesco and DH should be able to I’ll himself up on that and maybe a tin of tuna and mix with mayo?

Buy potatoes and make a Sheperds pie.

I second chilli con carne. Use the baked beans instead of kidney beans. Buy a tin of chopped tomatoes and an onion. Can maybe stretch to a cheap bag of tortilla chips (Sainsbury’s value brand are about 50p a big bag and very good) and a small tub of sour cream.
You’ve got chillis, mince and rice.
Defrost the mince and you’re away.
