AIBU?

To be uncomfortable about the use of this image in Clark's?

This is a slightly weird one, so I'm prepared to get laughed at / flamed, but here goes...
The child in the attached image (at least I hope it's attached) is "W" sitting. Now where it's very good for showing off the shoes, it's also developmentally a really bad position for kids to sit in, and one that parents / guardians should be actively discouraging kids to use, unless it's just for a really short period of time. It can indicate weakness in the hips and trunk. Am I a little silly for thinking that they shouldn't have the child in this position in their advertising??
Disclaimer; am an AHP so I NOTICE these things!

Overthinking.

CanIBuffalo · 17/03/2018 14:47

I'm more bothered by her not looking very happy.

Pickleypickles · 17/03/2018 14:47

YABU i dont think people are going to look at it and think "thats how they should of been sitting this whole time!" They are probably just going to look at the shoes.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 17/03/2018 14:47

It’s a kid sitting on the floor. The shoes look lovely.

Mol1628 · 17/03/2018 14:47

Overthinking. It’s just to show off the shoes.

LilQueenie · 17/03/2018 14:48

its a natural way for kids to sit.

AnyFucker · 17/03/2018 14:48

Not overthinking, I agree with op

"Indian" sitting would show the shoes off just as well and is a better posture to demonstrate

Somerville · 17/03/2018 14:48

Why is it so bad to sit like that?

AlonsoTigerHeart · 17/03/2018 14:48

Its a child sitting...

Bratsandtwats · 17/03/2018 14:50

I've always sat like that and I'm 47. I didn't realise it is a bad way to sit. It feels natural for me.

TSSDNCOP · 17/03/2018 14:50

She won't be sitting that way for ages though would she, only for the duration of the photo.

The ad is ineffective as it implies she's got new shoes she's upset about IMO.

Prusik · 17/03/2018 14:50

I thought w sitting was only to be discouraged in kids who are hypermobile?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 17/03/2018 14:50

What's an AHP?

And I thought the whole W sitting thing had been debunked?

Kimlek · 17/03/2018 14:51

OH I thought you were going to say about her crying. Except when I zoom in on my phone she’s not.

sparklewater · 17/03/2018 14:52

I still W sit!

Moreisnnogedag · 17/03/2018 14:53

As an AHP I’d expect you to be able to evaluate proper scientific advice rather than random bull on t’internet. W-sitting in child with hip dysphasia not great. In the rest of the child population absolutely fine.

geekone · 17/03/2018 14:56

I am 41 hypermobile and sat like that until I was about 20 and I am fine.

AnyFucker · 17/03/2018 14:56

another view

W sitting is not necessarily bad for children with normal gait, posture and muscle tone. It may be for those who have though.

pigsDOfly · 17/03/2018 14:56

Not sure if my perspective is out or it's the colour of the shoes but they look weirdly enormous to me.

Not an image that would make me rush to buy Clark's shoes tbh the whole picture is a bit sad looking; a child sitting alone and rubbing her eyes.

I know I've completely missed the point of the thread.

FlouncyDoves · 17/03/2018 14:56

🤦‍♂️

sonjadog · 17/03/2018 14:58

You are making an issue where there is none. YABU.

It is really bad, all my children (four) are hyper-mobile and have sat like this and I have had to actively discourage it, it causes serious damage to their hips later in life.

To be honest, despite this I probably wouldn't have noticed, but it's not an ideal advertisement. But then most model poses aren't exactly comfortable.

kinorsam · 17/03/2018 15:00

That sitting position is really really bad for you, it puts strain on the hips and really messes with the ligaments in your knees.

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/03/2018 15:01

Agree with pp 're shoes looking to big and poor kid looks like she just woke up. She doesn't look happy
