DM keeps telling me things about her sex life

I don't know why she does it, I really don't want to know. I don't know why she thinks I want to hear things about her and my dad Hmm As soon as she starts saying something I always say "I really don't want to hear this" but she carries on anyway. She did it again today and it's really pissing me off. Is this normal? How can I get her to stop?! It makes me so uncomfortable, it's the last thing I want to hear about to be honest 🤢

No it's not normal and it's frankly disgusting.

My mum is sometimes a bit TMI, but I kind of love her for it!

But if you're telling her it's making you uncomfortable, your mum really should respect you and keep schtum. I guess perhaps she doesn't have someone else to confide to about that kind of thing?

Stick your fingers in your ears and go "la la la" until she stops? No one wants to hear that from their mum!

I wouldn't say it's disgusting just a bit cringe when it's your mum and dad 🙈. Not sure why she would think you want or need to hear it.

Leave the room! Hopefully she will eventually get the hint.

Or you could say..........."that's really interesting - I must ask Dad about it and get his side of things."

After she's ignored you get up and walk away saying you already said you didn't want that. My mother usedcto do this. She was like an irritating friend who thought she'd invented sex. My response was to put in earphones.

Is she deliberately trying to shock? My mum does that Gin

How old is your mum? And is this behaviour new? Disinhibition can be a feature of dementia.
If she is seeking help with a sexual problem, perhaps you could suggest more appropriate sources of help for her, such as her GP or a counsellor.

Does she just randomly bring it up in conversation?

I wonder if she's trying to prove a point to you in some weird way. No idea what but maybe she thinks she's connecting with you as another adult and forgetting you really don't want to think about your parents doing the deed.

Just out of curiosity, how old are they?

Oh dear! I remember being on a bus with my DM when I was 17. She suddenly burst out with " I've got to tell SOMEONE! Your Father and I had sex last night for the first time in ten years!" I nearly threw up! Ugh.....

I would honestly be thinking it's dementia / Alzheimer's. Loss of inhibition is one of the most common symptoms. This is EXACTLY what my aunt was like at first.

I'm not interested in anyone's sex life apart from my own.
I second sticking fingers in ears and going la la la la

Ask your df to tell her to stop. Bet he is mortified she is discussing things with you.

My mum has been doing this and she’s a lot older. I don’t want to hear it and I quickly change the conversation.
She’s never done it before so why she now thinks it’s acceptable I don’t know Hmm

It depends on your relationship with her.

I personally have never understood this thing about it being horrendous to ever think that (your) parents have a sex life, that being said I don't get on well with my mum so it would feel odd if she suddenly saw me as someone close enough to have intimate conversations with.

On the flip side of the coin I have conversations about sex with my grandmother and it's been fine.

Talking to my Grandad on the phone (not long after he turned 80) and he told me that he had been to the Doctors for some viagra as he had a new girlfriend (called Anne). I said I thought your girlfriend was called Annie and he said Anne was a new one and he couldn't keep up with them both, that's why he needed the viagra! I stopped him in his tracks giving me any further details (the randy bugger).

There is a difference between realising your parents have a sex life and being given the details!!!! Big no no

Me and my mum walk about sex. But that’s normal for us.

If it’s not normal for you then have a serious conversation with her about it.
