AIBU?

AIBU to make DH wear...

His work polo shirts, trousers etc to work tomorrow covered in the remains of the tissues that he left in his pockets.

He won't be home until this evening and leaves for work at the crack of dawn tomorrow so no time to defluff all his clothes and get them dry. It was a large load with my uniforms in it as well (also covered in soggy tissues)

I now have to clear the washing machine of all the rest of the soggy tissues before I can put another load in.

We have had many conversations about tissues in pockets before and I think it's his responsibility to remove snotty tissues (he currently has man flu a cold) from his pockets before his uniforms go in the wash.

Is this meant to be light-hearted? If so you might want to get that in now.

But tissue in pockets is a PITA.

YABVVVU. The poor dear has a deathly case of a terrible cold! Wink He needs pampering.

DeathStare · 25/02/2018 14:19

I'd make him do his own washing from now on

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 25/02/2018 14:19

Ask him to take them out! If he doesn't then do it. It's not really hard is it? Confused

HonkyWonkWoman · 25/02/2018 14:21

Just shake the washing outside and put it in for another wash
Sure he hasn't done it on purpose.

DH does this too. He has allergies that he refuses to see the doctor about so sneezes constantly and leaves used tissues all over the house (including next to the bin). My "nagging" about it is ignored. I do - begrudgingly - check the pockets before doing the laundry, I'm afraid, as I don't want tissue all over my own clothes.

My bloody DH somehow washed a bloody nappy with the washing yesterday! I was furious! How does that even happen?? I had both kids out with me so cant even blame the toddler!

Vlad, yes it's meant it's meant to be light-hearted but I am pissed off that it's happened again.

Buy him a pack of handkerchiefs. My DH puts a clean one in his front pocket every morning.

I've learnt to check all pockets of either of our clothes before washing.

I can't remember what it was but something that shouldn't have got washed once, maybe it was a £note, and ever since if I'm putting washing in I check. DP does too I think.

Handkerchiefs here too saves lots of problems !

Honky I don't have time to put it in for another wash, I've got other washing that needs doing, no tumble drier, no time to take it to the launderette to tumble dry it, dinner to cook, get my own stuff ready for work while DH is out with his friends socialising.

I have tried DP on handkerchiefs several times; he manages to lose a whole pack within a week. Hmm

Report
murasaki · 25/02/2018 14:37

Yesterday's surprise was DP's wallet. Fool. And now his bank card doesn't work.

I' m guilt free as he put the load on for once.

YANBU - maybe he won't be so forgetful in future if he has to sort it out himself.

Report
PragmaticWench · 25/02/2018 14:39

I'd leave him to wear the mess that he's created quite frankly. If it were the first time then that would be different, but he's been told repeatedly.

Report
FizzyGreenWater · 25/02/2018 14:41

while DH is out with his friends socialising.

Then that's fine. He presumably could choose to stop socialising and sort out the mess HE'S made of his work clothes, but if he'd rather socialise and say let the clothes stay as they are, there you go.

When is he going to sort out YOUR clothes that he also messed up, though?

PragmaticWench · 25/02/2018 14:42

This is one of the reasons I make DH do his own washing and not to touch mine, or the DC's washing, on pain of death.

He's also capable of washing pale items in a black load, so is clearly unhinged and not to be trusted.

Lweji · 25/02/2018 14:44

Call him and say there's a home emergency that he needs to sort.
Make him do your clothes too.

Men never 'do things' on purpose do they? but the end result is still the same - you end up doing the wash again. Very frustrating. I feel for you, this is the sort of thing that breaks the camel's back. After 27 years, my DH is nearly trained, but there is always room for improvement!

Report
enterthedragon · 25/02/2018 14:48

I do usually double check the pockets. He never leaves anything else in the pockets since he washed £40 that he left in his pockets. If he can remember to take money, keys and phone out of his pockets he should remember to take out the tissues too.

Do you have a tumble dryer? Chuck them in there and the tissue will come off - works like a charm.
