I mean, the sight of Jamie Fraiser in his kilt. Good Lord how did I let this show pass me by!
I watched the Wedding episode the other night (I'm only on episode 8), never known DH so quiet Grin

This is my guilty Secret! I love Outlander so much.
I have been ill for a few months and it has been a great comfort to disappear into Claire and Jamie's world.
The thing is I am a lesbian, in my 60s, been with my wife for 20 years, read anarcho-feminist novels, I am politically active and yet I get great joy from this!
My wife watches with me and we say, Oh such nonsense but I really do love it.
So much so that I have been watching bloopers and interviews with the cast.
It's my secret obsession..
Have you seen 'Angus' starring in the latest series of Shetland?

I've seen this mentioned elsewhere but never really thought of watching it. Is it on Netflix?

@thenightsky it's on Amazon prime.

@IamEarthymama I haven't seen Angus no! I only started to watch the other day, but it's completely sucked me in. We have a classic car and to see Claire and Frank driving through the beautiful highlands has given me the idea of perhaps taking ours up there late summer and visiting the Castle.

Am also now utterly fascinated with Jacobite uprisings and the battle of Culloden. Blush

I luffs this programme! Could swoon over Jamie and rugged Scotsmen all day 😁

Got the books for Christmas but haven't read them yet. My mum is also a huge fan and I got her a Jamie coaster and fridge magnet which she LOVES!

I confess @schlobbob I stumbled upon a few bits of merchandise on EMP and I'm about to be the proud owner of a beautiful knitted cape with thistle buttons.

I used to love the books until about book 4 when it just got really silly. Watched the series but again finding interest waining now getting to later parts. However actor Jamie exceeded my imagination!

I love this show.

I've been watching it from the start and get really impatient when i have to wait for a new season to start!

If I ever met Sam Heaughan and he wasn't exactly like Jamie I'd be so disappointed

I read the first book when I was 17 (so 23 years ago now) and remember getting very hot under the collar Grin They did an excellent job casting Jamie!!

I LOVED it, but felt a little disappointed with Season 3.

An acquaintance's son has got a small part in the new series and I did wonder whether to mention I love the show! I haven't yet. If anyone is interested - he is having to film in Scotland.

Goodness I actually live 5 minutes from Culloden battlefield, should I be watching this? It has completely passed me by.

snoooop thats because book 3 is rubbish. I'm on book 4 now and it's ok, but not as good as 1 and 2. If it doesn't pick up I might give up after this one.

I enjoyed the first book immensely and then they gradually got worse and worse. That woman needed an editor so badly.
The programme looks magnificent, I love Jamie, Dougall, Murtagh and Randall but I'm not keen on Claire if I'm honest.

Kimlo I have all the books and have read the lot. I tend to reread before the new one comes out.

Some of the books are better than others, but you need to read them all for the historical context and to keep track of the characters.

Did you know that David Cameron had the broadcasting of Outlander in the UK delayed until after the Scottish indyref, for fear it would influence the outcome? Grin

DH is away for a few days so I might have to make a start on the books as well.
And yes @ConciseandNice I think you should! Not sure how accurate it is historically though.

Love to hear of new people discovering Outlander.
I don't think there's ever going to be another man who lives up to Jamie. I knew nothing about Jacobites and Culloden before but it's a fascinating time to learn about.
If you've not seen it, you must watch it.

I do admit to watching it in real life but with the proviso that it is sheer nonsense and definitely soft porn!
As my wife watched True Blood with a passion for Pam and there were heaving bosoms and buttocks every time I walked into the room I feel I am allowed to feed my historical passion Grin
I must emphasise that the bosoms and bums were on the TV Wink
Would you believe me if I said I found my way to Outlander through crochet on Pinterest? I was searching cowls and wrist warmers and saw Claire's glorious clothes.
It's the troof guv, 'onest!

My friend in the States was going on about the Outlander books to me for years, and I just ignored her. Eventually downloaded the first book and that was it! Just read one after another after another, and then when the tv series came out I was so excited. I'm not very keen on Claire in the tv version, although I'm warming to her. TV Jamie is perfect! But I have a sneaky crush on Graeme McTavish who plays Dougal.
