AIBU?

To be annoyed at this

Made tea for myself, DP and Ds. Nothing fancy, fish cakes, green beans and carrot/swede mash.

DP is a pretty fussy eater which doesn't really bother me but the only veg he will eat is carrots and green beans. I don't even really like green beans but I get them for him.

So anyway, gave Ds his tea in his high chair, took mine to the table and left his on a plate in the oven as he was busy at the time.

When he went to get it he immediately scraped the veg straight into the bin!!!!

If he didn't want it he could put it to one side or ask if I wanted it but it really pissed me off that without even tasting any of it he just put it in the bin.

AIBU to be pissed at this? Or is it just veg and I should get over it?

I would be pissed off and tell him to make dinner in future

Maybe he just didn’t fancy veg?

But to not offer it to you or save it? Wasteful

Even if he didn’t want them, that’s really rude.

Let him make his own meals from now on.

Imho the carrot & Swede mash belongs in the bin as cannot stand swede-the green beans were fine though.

This is how I feel now, that I don't want to cook for him anymore.

I'm absolutely furious on your behalf. How disrespectful and rude.

He should be made to make his own dinner from now on, the arsehole.

I know it was only veg and it's not like I grew it myself but it did upset me. When you spend all day looking after and. Cleaning up after 2 kids then cook tea as well, for him to just put it in the bin was actually quite hurtful.

When anyone cooks for you, it's a kindness. To bin the food without tasting it - Shock

If he went to dinner with his family would he do that?

Report
ScreamingValenta · 23/02/2018 19:51

Very rude. If he didn't want it, he should simply have left it on his plate.

lizzlebizzle33 · 23/02/2018 19:52

If he was at his parents he would just leave it on the plate if he didn't want it, that's what pushed me off the most, the fact it just went out of the oven and into the bin.

So he knows how to behave. He is just being disrespectful when you've cooked the meal? I would go BATSHIT.

Very rude and he knows it was rude and is making a point.

You don’t feel as though it’s the veg he binned so thoughtlessly, but the effort and consideration you put into making something you thought he’d like, am I correct?
I’d guess that his action seems dismissive of your efforts, taking the meal (& you) for granted, so that’s why you feel hurt?

@Greyponcho you must have hit the nail on the head then as you made me cry, you're right, I feel totally used and unappreciated

Give him sausage and mash everyday for a week and see if he improves his behaviour.

Sorry, I was being silly. Yanbu, that would really annoy me and is probably refuse to make anything else for him.

I'm hoping 'DP' stands for 'DarlingPRETEEN' - otherwise just Shock Shock Shock Either way I think you need to cut access to the household internet supply until he's learned some basic manners!

Carrot and swede mash is delicious and nutritious. He is not only being unreasonable, he is being foolish.

Next time, ask me round. I will eat everything and adore you for cooking it.

That is really rude, not least because swede are awkward buggers to peel. What a waste of effort and how disrespectful.
