LIGHTHEARTED

So the power went out here an hour ago and there’s no sign it will be sorted soon. DH has gone to work on nights in my car, his is trapped in the garage behind an electric door. So I’m here all alone, in the dark, no Netflix, nothing. I’m hungry but can’t open the fridge or use the oven. Can’t even boil the kettle to make a brew. Not that I can get the milk anyway. I could heat up some soup on the gas hob, but who the fuck wants soup for tea. Not even got any fresh bread. Angry
So I’m on just eat and contemplating spending the best part of £20 to get some nice person to bring me food Grin
AIBU? Should I just be eating the soup Confused

Takeaway all the way!

Though we've just ordered for two and it only came to £20 at the local chinese so try somewhere cheaper Wink

Get a takeaway, I would. However your garage door probably has a chain or something for power cuts if you do need to go anywhere.

Do it.

Sod that. Support your local economy through home delivery of delicious food. Chinese New Year - it is practically a cultural endeavour.

Check the power grid for the takeaway place, if they have power order away, if not order at a place that has power Grin

Yes, one of life's great joys, a takeaway for one, get exactly what you want, none of this compromising and ending up never having Chinese (looks hard at DP) and make sure you order loads so there's leftovers.

Do it! But, if you order loads for a proper chow down just remember to shout 'dh it's here, get the plates' when you open the door Grin

Or maybe it's just me and the amount I order Blush

Definitely takeaway but I would have to boil water on the hob for a cup of tea!!!! I'd be desperate!

Err I get a takeaway every couple of weeks just for me even if the power is still on

Do it. And use one that delivers wine as well Wink

Why can't you open the fridge?

If you really want a brew, can't you boil water on the gas hob as well?

Report
Notevilstepmother · 18/02/2018 18:37

If you have a gas hob you can make tea. It won’t hurt the fridge to open quickly while you get the milk out.

Do it! I love getting Chinese alone as it means I can have exactly the dishes I want, plus have cold Chinese for breakfast. Or you could save some for DH when he gets home if you’re feeling really generous.

Never unreasonable to order a takeaway for one. What will you have? I'd choose Indian

It’s literally just 20 houses that don’t have power. The cranky NDN have power. They have all their outside lights on they are just showing off the bastards the takeout has power I checked Grin

Why can't you open the fridge? Is this some new sort of Smart fridge which holds your food to ransom if you don't give it electricity? Or is it that you're afraid that everything will go off if you reach inside for the butter and the bacon?

Griddle scones is my usual solution to nobody having bought bread. They'd be a lot quicker than waiting for a takeaway. With bacon, fried eggs for first course, then with butter and marmalade for seconds.

I always think I'd love to see one of these sorts of threads where everyone replies and says;

'NO! They're REALLY bad for you!' or,

'NO! Don't be so lazy and make some soup!'

Or 'No that would be terribly self indulgent'!
Grin

Enjoy your takeaway OP, I'd definitely do the same if I couldn't get out.
