But seriously I NEED to know some effective ways of making him stop snoring. What actually works?? Special pillows? Nose strips? Any advice would be greatly received as I am at the end of my tether tonight.

Thanks mykingdom 😊, how long before you can get here? Please tell me it's really soon!

DreamyMcDreamy Thu 15-Feb-18 00:51:18

Hard poky finger in the back until he stops and snorts then five minutes later starts up again grin

TitsNnails Thu 15-Feb-18 00:51:58

Get him to the Dr for a check up. Could be a medical issue.

DreamyMcDreamy Thu 15-Feb-18 00:52:26

Boo.That grin should have been an angry face. It's late.(Early?) Should be off to bed lol

DreamyMcDreamy Thu 15-Feb-18 00:53:44

It'se.(Early?)

It's late. Early?

I rest my case. Sigh.

thishouseisashittip Thu 15-Feb-18 00:54:23

Haha been there done that. Last weekend we bought and put a new bed up for him in spare room (well granddaughters room when she says over) and he is in there but I can hear him through the wall, loud and fuckin clear!!! 😳

thishouseisashittip Thu 15-Feb-18 01:00:09

I would say late Dreamy, I definitely should be asleep either way.

Yep, same.Alarm's going to go off in the morning and I'm going to curse myself for not going to bed earlier when it rings!
I never learn.

thishouseisashittip Thu 15-Feb-18 01:12:24

I will just curse my husband it's his fault! I am not a nice person on not much sleep 😈

mimibunz Thu 15-Feb-18 01:16:48

Mine takes ibuprofen to reduce the swelling in his nose and if it’s really bad he will use nose spray. It’s hell when he’s upstairs snoring and my DC (darling cat) is downstairs snoring!

thishouseisashittip Thu 15-Feb-18 01:28:23

Tomorrow I am going to the chemist and buying whatever says anti snore on it, I don't care how much it all costs. I would sell my soul at this point.

I don't understand it he isn't over weight, he doesn't smoke, doesn't drink much at all. He has snored the whole 25 years we have been together and a few pokes usually sorts it (unless he has a cold). It has been getting steadily worse, but tonight is something else. I am at the other end of the house now with bedroom door shut (swapped bedrooms with my son, poor kid I am always having to move him) and I can STILL hear him! Bloody new builds walks are paper thin 😡

thishouseisashittip Thu 15-Feb-18 01:29:47

Going to have to drug him up to the eyeballs I think Mimi.

GrockleBocs Thu 15-Feb-18 01:30:08

Gum shield thing works for DH. Holds the lower jaw forward.

laudanum Thu 15-Feb-18 01:32:53

Make him into a dude smoothie.

mimibunz Thu 15-Feb-18 01:43:38

Hey, whatever works! Drugs, a whack over the head....or both.

ChesterFuckingDraws Thu 15-Feb-18 01:44:23

Earplugs! Honestly they’re amazing.
You can still hear noise (alarm going off, DH husband talking etc) but they dull the snoring so you can tune it out and get a decent sleep. I wouldn’t be without them

CiderwithBuda Thu 15-Feb-18 01:56:50

If he doesn't smoke, drink much and isn't overweight he should go to th doctor.

Could be fixable. Could be sleep apnea which is not great and really should be treated.

The reason I'm downstairs at 4.22 a.m. is dh snoring like a motorbike engine upstairs. It woke me up. I put earplugs in but could still hear him through them and could feel the rumbling through the bed so I couldane downstairs. I did move, poke him, ask him to stop etc but it made no difference. He woke up and asked why I was getting up and I told him and the fucker went back to sleep! We have no spare room. I'd give my right arm for my own room with my own bed. Ten years ago I had a whole house to myself and now I have to relegate myself to the settee and still can't escape the noise. It does my bloody head in. angry

IHaveACuntingPlan Thu 15-Feb-18 04:28:45

couldane came downstairs. Stupid phone.

Nandocushion Thu 15-Feb-18 04:59:03

Hi, OP. I had this problem and it turned out to be silent reflux. So: like indigestion, but without any pain, so there's no indication of it besides things like snoring, clearing throat etc. You can try raising the head end of the bed/mattress by 4" or so, or give him a pillow wedge or several pillows to prop him up. He'll also need not to eat within 3 hours of sleeping. It's certainly worth a try and better than earplugs.

Magmatic80 Thu 15-Feb-18 05:03:38

We got my heavy snorer friend some throat spray as sharing rooms on holiday was grim). Works brilliantly! It needs to be own brand weirdly. Tastes like mint apparently.

flowers for you. You have my sympathy.

At one point during the night I had three snoring around me. DH, DD and the cat. Beat that.
