I think I still look pretty great at forty, don’t think my skin looks forty at all
So I’m wondering when will I really notice it ? Know it’s different for everyone
I’m think maybe after 50 now ?

About 35. One day I just noticed I looked tired and much older.

SaucyJack Wed 14-Feb-18 23:34:09

Yeah, 34/35 was the turning point.

Umakemefeellikedancing Wed 14-Feb-18 23:35:56

Another one for mid 30s. 36 now and with 2 young dcs it's really starting to show unfortunately

Cantthinkofausername1 Wed 14-Feb-18 23:36:36

I’m 35 and I realised it about 3 weeks ago!

kyrenialady Wed 14-Feb-18 23:36:57

Same as others now 36 and my face is looking so droopy and old.

Dizzybintess Wed 14-Feb-18 23:37:21

38. I’m 40 now

cannotmakemymindup Wed 14-Feb-18 23:37:32

Is it silly to think looks won't fade? I want to be like that 80yr old lady - Winkle something or other!

Iloveacurry Wed 14-Feb-18 23:38:05

I’m 45. My face isn’t bad, I’m told I look good for my age. I’ve noticed in the last couple of years my neck, chest area is looking a little crepey.

SavageBeauty73 Wed 14-Feb-18 23:38:12

I'm 44 and my looks are starting to fade 😰

madhamsters Wed 14-Feb-18 23:38:19

You sound like you have lucky genes! I reckon I started to lose it around 36/7 and now at 41 it's really going down hill fast. I sometimes don't recognise myself if I catch a glance at my reflection.

bialystockandbloom Wed 14-Feb-18 23:39:04

My looks haven't faded! I'm late 40s, look good (imho wink) but don't look like I did when I was 30. Not worse, and skin maybe not as firm, but just as a good version of the same self I've always been. Just like my 8yo dd doesn't look like she did at 2yo, but still gorgeous. We change but doesn't mean we fade!

bialystockandbloom Wed 14-Feb-18 23:39:48

* just as good a version, I mean

derekthe1adyhamster Wed 14-Feb-18 23:40:21

I work with teenagers. So looking back, about 25! But as an adult smile I definitely started looking my age at 40.although most friends say menopause

TillyMint81 Wed 14-Feb-18 23:40:35

36. I've always looked pretty young for my age but I swear my two year old has aged me by about ten years! I looked into the mirror the other week and suddenly noticed how old I was looking.

LardLizard Wed 14-Feb-18 23:40:44

I’ve never smoked in my life so mayb that’s helped plus I’m not overweight but wouldn’t mind losing half a stone
So maybe that helps int he face department

I thought I would have really noticed by forty
Interesting what some of you say that it just happened so suddenly like overnight

MiaFarrowsWheelbarrow Wed 14-Feb-18 23:40:56

I'm mid 40's and would say the last year has been the turning point for me. I definitely have to work harder at keeping up with my skin care, make up and hair colouring otherwise I just look like a lacklustre version of myself.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo Wed 14-Feb-18 23:41:54

If you are a beautiful 20 year old you will be a beautiful 80 year old, youth does not equate beauty.

eggncress Wed 14-Feb-18 23:42:16

Was about 48 for me. Noticed some jaw sag almost overnight!

biffyboom Wed 14-Feb-18 23:42:22

32. It all went downhill when I had my first child. I've gone from looking well below my age to older than my age in a few years.
Spending a small fortune on lotions and potions now trying to reverse and hold off more damage.

AjasLipstick Wed 14-Feb-18 23:42:30

I peaked at about 28 and still looked quite glowing and pretty until I was about 37.

Now I'm 45 I am probably what's considered an "attractive" older woman but I'm not glowy any more.

Honestly doesn't bother me....I enjoy it really. I have a gravitas I never had before.

Ha, x-post with lots of 30-something's grin

Just you lot wait till you're over 46 - late 30s will seem like teenage years! But I still say, looks don't fade, you just change a bit. Not necessarily for the worst, unless you're in denial that you're getting older.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer Wed 14-Feb-18 23:45:58

I'm 37 and don't think I look too bad...no wrinkles or greys yet...I'm still holding on to the hope that I can stay pretty for a few more years, or maybe I'm deluding myself? God this thread is so fucking depressing.

Doobigetta Wed 14-Feb-18 23:47:18

It depends what kind of looks you have. There's a particular type, very babyfaced with blonde hair and blue eyes, dimples, rosebud mouth and so on, that is often gorgeous when very young but fades fast- even from the late 20s. You tend to see that women whose looks are based more on strong, striking features, and who maybe aren't as obviously pretty when young, look better for much longer, because it's all on bone structure. Plus of course the damage or lack of that comes from lifestyle and how you treat your skin.
