AIBU?

To still find Uranus funny at age 47?

Yes I'm puerile, and old enough to know better . DD in Yr5 has been studying the solar system this term and I seem to relish any occasion when I can say: "DH look at Uranus, it's amazing" etc
DH says it was funny the first time but he still smirks.
DS13 thinks it's funny (he would) but DS11 thinks I'm "silly"
AIBU?

YANBU

I'm 42 and taking your post as permission to still titter about it for at least another 5 years.

Saturn Uranus is funnier!

You can't help growing older but growing up is entirely voluntary and not to be recommended!

It will never not be funny.

Houston, we have a problem; Uranus is blocking our view

It always makes me laugh when people try to go with the Americanised 'yurrr-anne-uss' as the pronunciation to try and avoid the funny.

Also I used to teach astronomy so it's extra amusing!

Haha. My son was pretending to be a lion wanting a 'big dik-dik' for breakfast the other day. A dik-dik is in fact a gazelle thing. DH and I kept making dik jokes and it was hilarious because ds didn't have a clue what he was saying.

Well I think planets should be afforded a bit of dignity and I get upset that people laugh at poor old Uranus.

And what did Pluto do to end up discarded as a planet?

Very poor attitudes towards fellow members of our solar system.

Pluto couldn't clear its own orbit so it doesn't get to play with the big boys. It's got a lot of mates out there though!

I am currently working in Luxembourg. There is a Tran stop called Coque. I snigger every time the automated voice announces it. I nearly snorted when the advertising display screen told me to "Get off at the Coque stop"

So happy I found my people, dik-dik has been a new thing to look forward to when watching a nature documentary.

Can I recommend the cricket when an unlucky bowler is hit on the helmet (the headwear)? But I always chuckle like beavis and butt head cos they said helmet.

Haha YANBU, ds is obsessed with space and loves telling people that Uranus has a lot of methane in it’s centre, so if you went inside Uranus it would smell of farts GrinGrin

My son and I giggle away at this.

Oh yes it's funny. I teach year 7s about space. They think it's funny too.

I'm also 47 - I still sing a song the kids made up years ago

'slugs come from Uranus ...Little Green Men from Uranus ...slime comes from Uranus ...Uranus Uranus Uranus'

and laugh - I'm puerile Grin

There is a town in the US called Mianus.

Uranus is indeed approx. 2.5% fart. It is a lovely greeny-blue colour though. It spins on its side.

I thought Pluto was being brought back into the planetary fold? Maybe I've dreamt this.

Saturn Uranus is splendid. But then I still think the word Bum is funny (late forties here...) and homophones like Pea Nurse.

I’m 35 and I still find Uranus funny.

My stupid husband pronounces it the ‘now correct’ way though which is boring.

Herbigchance that was a spoof thing that did the rounds.
Pluto is still out of the game.

I ask DH every time he gets his telescope out whether he can see Uranus.
