are a perfectly reasonable and sensible lunch. In fact, in terms of ingredients and nutrition, very similar to an sandwich, a piece of fruit and a biscuit/cake which seems to be a standard lunch for most children. I know, not on MN, but IRL, at the schools where I've worked, it's what the vast majority have every day,

My friend is horrified at what I was planning to sever her and her Dc for lunch, "it's not very healthy" when I know for her fact that her DC have a sandwich, fruit and a choccy bar every day and they don't eat the fruit.

If someone else is making lunch then you don't get to be horrified. Sounds delicious and it's pancake day besides.

We had pancakes with DSD last night, she's now having pancakes with her cousins today for lunch, and will have pancakes with her Mum tonight Grin
Just load 'em up with fruit and give them a veg dinner tomorrow night!

Yes, Luxury. It was intended to be a sociable half term treat on pancake day. It's not something I'd serve randomly most days but when you break it down it's got eggs, milk and flour, fruit, some sugar,(but not loads) and a bit of butter to cook the pancakes in. Much the same as most lunches.

I wouldn't say every day, as sandwiches can at least provide some veg and protein due to their fillings.

If you're comparing it to a Nutella sandwich then YANBU Grin

It's fine to eat as a treat once in a while (couple times per month or so, maybe once per week as brunch) but I wouldn't say it's a daily food like sandwiches. Not sure of any nutritional evidence to back that up though.

On pancake day it's fine.

There's egg and milk in the pancakes Lemon. More protein than your average ham/cheese sandwich

She’s a knob, it’s Pancake day and yes, even on a normal day, it’s fine for breakfast or lunch. I hope you told her to bring her kale & courgette salad if that’s what she wants.

We have just had (egg free, because I don’t eat eggs) pancakes with lemon & sugar (the kids even added jam - yes I known complete heathens!). Yum.

(I wouldn’t normally have them as I’m low carbing, but ‘life’ happened last night so decided I’d have pancakes today back on wagon tonight. Still, the kids helped, they ate so many there was only one left for me & I couldn’t be arsed making more batter)

If her kids health would be tipped to unhealthy based on one meal, she needs to review what she feeds her kids for every meal of every other bloody day of the year.

Not necessarily PlanNumber. The ones I make are just flour, soya milk and oil. You could use eggs and have more protein though :)
