Try entering this: women killed in 2017. See what the first page of results looks like. I'll post a screenshot of what I got in a bit.

Shock

Someone's been busy.

Very very busy.

meredintofpandiculation · 13/02/2018 11:45

Lots of transgender stuff. But google personalises, so that could be because I spend lots of time on mumsnet which has lots of transgender threads. Much more balanced selection using duckduckgo

Babyiwantabump · 13/02/2018 11:45

😯 if you get the same OP that’s outrageous!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/02/2018 11:46

I got this.

Do not Google this and then click on the top result. That's the kind of thing that makes this the top result.

falsepriest · 13/02/2018 11:48

0 Days Since... etc.

Calvinlookingforhobbs · 13/02/2018 11:48

This is horrendous. There is an agenda to push trans acceptance on us all.

AyeAyeFishyPie · 13/02/2018 11:48

Wtf?!

Nottheduchessofcambridge · 13/02/2018 11:49

Shocking! I googled and the first 6 were trans!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/02/2018 11:50

I just saw a thread on Twitter about this. A man (I assume) who posts gender critical stuff there got a very similar result. I saw something similar either here or on Twitter a few months ago. I don't think it's a coincidence that so many trans-identifying people work in tech.

I know Google's algorithm takes into account the other things you search for. But on my search history if I looked for women killed in 2017 the sites I've looked at in the past are far more likely to be about violence against women and girls.

TheWizardofWas · 13/02/2018 11:50

that is kind of weird.... Shock

bluecashmere · 13/02/2018 11:51

If you googled 'women murdered in 2017' etc you would not get this result.

This one comes up time and time again.

Bringmewineandcake · 13/02/2018 11:51

Shit Shock

TheWizardofWas · 13/02/2018 11:51

I got exactly the same as Gasp and I don't spend any time looking up trans stuff.

TheWizardofWas · 13/02/2018 11:52

i got it pretty similar with women murdered.

Rawhh · 13/02/2018 11:52

Oh FFS! Google personalise it results based on your internet history.

There is no untoward agenda to bring Transacceptance on us all - merely a push to accept people for who they have a biological urge to be.

Attitudes such as Calvins have echoes of the types of things that were said before homosexuality was acceptable.

Pickleypickles · 13/02/2018 11:53

My top two are trans and then two about women and then two more about trans people. To my knowledge ive never googled anything about trans people in the past. Definately not in the last 2 or 3 months and i google everything so its not due to past search results or cookies.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 13/02/2018 11:54

I got it too. That is absolutely appalling. Ever feel like you’ve been deleted?

Rebeccaslicker · 13/02/2018 11:54

Well - I got the same results, but I've never really googled anything trans related, and esp not in the last fortnight since I upgraded my phone. My internet history on this new phone is almost exclusively MN, "white gloss kitchens", "grey roll top baths" and clothes for children!

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 13/02/2018 11:55

I have never googled trans issues, as it goes. I have however very recently googled several abducted girls and women.

bluecashmere · 13/02/2018 11:57

Rawhh you're wrong. It's not just about your internet history. The algorithms are far more complex than that and it's easy to boost certain pages with SEO techniques - which I'm sure is part of what's going on here.

Talith · 13/02/2018 12:04

I got the same results as you OP and I've not been involved in the transgender debates here or anywhere else, they're not normally threads I'd contribute to.

PiecesOfHate · 13/02/2018 12:04

I got a pageful of trans stuff. This has NOTHING to do with my internet history as I've never googled or investigated trans issues ever, and avoid the trans threads on here.

Yes, I find it sinister. If I google "women" or "women" then why wouldn't actual, real women who must make up at least 99% of people calling themselves such not feature at all in the first page of results? Very strange algorithm on there. Hmm

sallyandherarmy · 13/02/2018 12:07

I googled Women MURDERED in 2017

Wow.

I feel sick.
