So I've lost abit of weight last year and still have some to go. I've dieted to the extreme before and generally have a really poor relationship with food. I'm aiming for healthy and happy. Expect weight loss to come slow and steady which it is. I normally eat really well during the week and let myself eat whatever I've been craving, but not an out and out binge to the point I hate myself. I've got family coming round on tues which I'm really looking forward to but it's going to mess up my routine. I'm scared that if I'm thinking this way I may be slipping back to old habits where I avoid social functions because it messes up my diet but at the same time I just want to enjoy the company of people and some food that isn't califlower rice so maybe I'm developing a normal relationship with food and it's not that big of a deal and the world isn't going to end

I don't understand the worry.

Having a health food outlook also includes the ocassional treat, like pancakes!

We never bother with it. It’s not compulsory.

Have a pancake filled with lots of fresh fruit so you're not left out?

If you want them that bad can you make savoury ones and have them instead of dinner?

Not bothered by pan cake day. Easter on the other hand...;)

Is pancake day such a big deal? Surely a couple of pancakes for a meal isn’t that bad

Can you make a plan if it helps you feel more comfortable? For example, plan to have 2, plan the toppings (I like to have a banana and raspberries with my pancakes) and decide you are going to enjoy the evening. I've been drinking flavoured fizzy water over ice when I'm saving calories. Ultimately weight loss is going to be more successful if you're making sustainable lifestyle changes. Have fun :-)

Sounds like you recognize you are managing your diet through somewhat extreme control rather than good habits? I think you need to either build up the habit part, or work out a control method that works for you in social settings/at celebrations.

You could set yourself a healthy limit, for instance or, effectively, “swap” one of your less restricted weekend days for this celebratory weekday.

If you really want a pancake then make the ones I make for ds;

1 Medium, ripe banana mashed in a bowl
Stir in 2 tablespoons of flour
Beat in 1 medium egg

Use the mixture to make 3 pancakes.

I use the tiny 1 egg pans to get them nice and round.

I think to most people it's not a big deal but when you've previously had an eating disorder and are now trying to diet/lose weight there's a constant fear of slipping back to old restrictions. My idea of dieting and the average persons idea of dieting is very different. Agonising over pancake day is nothing compared to the anxiety of a full blown disorder.

I totally get you, unless you've struggled with binge eating you possibly won't.

I used My fitness Pal to track calouries and i'd leave myself extra for occasions.

I'd also up my exercise for that week.

I like strawberries with pancakes, so i'd eat more fruit than anything and just have a dribble of chocolate on them.

I also used to send stuff home with my relatives, who were all supportive, or bin what was left.

OP, you will get more support on the Weight loss Forum.

Easter is another tough time. I always found that extra exercise and counting calories over two weeks helped me.

Pancakes are foul it's the stuff that goes onto them that tastes nice! Google protein pancake recipes. Some include protein powder instead of flour. One healthy recipe is 1 smooshed up ripe banana 3x egg whites 1x egg yolk. Blitz in blender until it looks like batter then fry. You can buy sugar free maple syrup and maybe cinnamon with something or fruit compote on top? Melted 99% cocoa chocolate and strawberries?

I low carb diet so eat suitably made pancakes quite regularly any way - topped with cream and lemon are my favourite 😬😬

On a more serious note I plan on having 3.

Each one cooked separately as a stack would just fall in my gob and if want more.

Pancake 1 with strawberries, 1 scoop of Greek yogurt and a drizzle of honey.

Pancake 2 covered in blueberries and banana, Greek yogurt and a drizzle of honey.

Pancake 3. Fried with sliced, mini mars bar sliced over the top so it goes gooey. 1 pot of mini mousse over the top.

Not the healthiest thing in the world but not too bad considering last year I fried a four pack of mars mars, coated in peanut wrapped in pancake and fried so they went gooey , served with nutella, squirty cream and syrup. And that was just for pudding Blush
