What to say to lying dog walker?

Sent home sick from work yesterday, still off sick today. DH messaged walker at 9am to say dog was fine (she had been ill last week)
Dog walker messaged back saying Perfect I'll be to take her out.
Comes to 12pm no walker, DH messaged again to say where are you?
She messaged back saying she'd been and gone from 8:45-9:45 and would be back at 2pm.
DH said that's not true and that I was at home.
Walker messaged back assuring him she'd been.
DH said he would be coming home to walk her as I was too sick to and not to bother coming back in the afternoon.
She maintains she had walked her.
SHE DIDN'T I WAS AT HOME WITH HER!
Anyway the trust is gone, Therefor she is going. How do I word this?
I know she's lied and doesn't obviously give a shit but I would like to hold my head up high walking past her knowing I was right and handled it correctly without flying off the handle.
Please wise women if mumsnet help me with wording a message.

Wow I wonder how many times she has done this? Poor dog.

Were you in bed and didn't hear?

Op, I am sure others will be better but let’s have a go 😀

Your dog walking services are no longer required and have been terminated as of 7/2/18.

If u want u can say why, but u don’t have to. Do u have a written agreement or notice period? Have you paid in advance?

That’s awful! Poor dog. Do you think she has done it before?

Report
Fekko · 07/02/2018 19:06

There’s no wa she could’ve slipped in and taken the dog without you knowing? Maybe you were asleep or upstairs?

Report
Thistlebelle · 07/02/2018 19:06

Surely all you need to say is that her services are no longer required.

OutyMcOutface · 07/02/2018 19:06

Is there someone you can report it to?

I'd be publicly naming and shaming - how many other dogs are left without a loo break thanks to her? That's appalling, and to outrightly lie about it too. I'd send a brief text saying you were at home so you know she's lying, and can only assume she's doing it to other clients too. And how many times in the past has she done the same?

I would say the dog was with you all day and therefore you know she didn't come and as it's imperative for your dog to get a daily walk you will be looking for someone more reliable. She s a bit thick not to have made up an excuse though as it was obvious your husband knew she hadn't been!

Wow what a lying cunt.

Makes you wonder how many other people do stuff like this.

SACK her, and tell her why.

Is there a notice period or t &c in the contract. If it is a casual thing just text and say we are concerned that you are telling us you walked Rover when one of us was at home so impossible to miss the dog being gone for an hour. Due to this we are cancelling your —nonexistent— further appointments.

Report
petbear · 07/02/2018 19:09

And yeah, see if there IS anyone you can report her to. And see if you can name and shame (on FB or twitter or similar.)

If there's no chance she could have slipped in, that's absolutely disgusting.

On Wed I was at home all day. You did not come to walk the dog. Both the dog and I were distressed by this. This is a serious breech of contract and trust, and as such I know you cannot be relied upon anymore. Take this as a termination of the arrangement we had. I will not be in a position to write you a positive reference or recommendation.

Nope I was up, had sent DD to nursery with a friend first thing. Was on the sofa with the dog lying with her head on me all morning.

I wondered that too but the bowls are usually dirty when I get home, she feeds them both but only walks one and lets the other out in the garden (he has elbow dysplasia and can't walk far)

Yes I would just say that her services are no longer required. That seems the most dignified way of doing it.

However if she questions why, I would be telling her (providing you're 100% sure she couldn't have come in whilst you were asleep or something?) straight that it's completely unacceptable to pretend she had been when she clearly hasn't! How many other times has she done that? Poor doggySad

If there is no way she could have slipped in and got the dog without you knowing, as in your dog was with you the whole time, I would just send a short message reiterating that you were in the house the entire time and as there is a breach of trust their services are no longer required.

I would also name and shame publically as i would wonder how often this has happened before.

That's terrible !! I paid a girl to look after my horse 2 days a week a couple of years back - one day she text and said she had been and Ned was all mucked out and ridden. My reply was "Erm please don't lie to me - I've been at the stables all day and you have not been here !" she instantly blocked me on fb, what's app etc and never heard from her again ! I wondered how many times my poor pony had been left all day in forty stable with feed.

I’d play on being incredibly disappointed and how the trust has gone and you’d like her to explain her actions and behaviour so you can feel reassured this was a one off, or you’ll feel compelled to share your appalling experience on social media and with the local pet shops in the area.

Berrygoodteeth · 07/02/2018 19:13

But irrespective get rid of her and terminate her services

Report
Shnazzyshot · 07/02/2018 19:13

That is absolutely shocking! I'm so angry for you op! She could have done this before and you'd not even know. I'd publicly name and shame so her other customers know not to trust her.
