He just went and got me a cup of tea and a hot cross bun. He only put butter one one side. One fucking side angry. What sort of deviant eats hot cross buns either a) without butter, or b) like a sandwich. I'm ltb.

Stripy Never make a rabbit angry. They can rapid fire you with little Nesquik ball things!

ginch - my born, bred and raised Yorkshire grandmother used to serve Yorkshire puddings like that too - they were like a starter to the main course of meat veg and potatoes. Lots of gravy with both.

I don't think she ever put cheese in teacakes or HCBs though. But she may well have had a slice of Wensleydale with fruitcake.

shock OP.

Early in our relationship, my DP made me a bacon sandwich.

Hetoasted the bread.

I'll say that again.

Hetoasted the bread.

Our relationship has survived, but only because of my almost saintly capacity for forgiveness.

He toasted the bread.

Is that not the done thing then? {ducks}

MichaelBendfaster Fri 09-Feb-18 13:39:56

I understand what you are going through MichaelBF I had a similar traumatic experience with a salmon sandwich which DH toasted and not just the bread. 😱 Don't worry about the earlier unsympathetic reply, you have to have experienced this to understand. I still have PTSD from the incident almost 20 years ago, forgiven but never forgotten.

Name and shame him lol how dare he!

ThumbWitchesAbroad Sat 10-Feb-18 08:59:21

Toasted salmon sandwich?! That must have been revolting!

I know some people like to have bacon sandwiches in toasted bread. I'm not one of those people. I like mine to be fried on the inside only in the bacon fat, or not at all. No butter or they get too greasy.

My DH always lightly toasts bread for any sandwich he makes. ANY. BUT - and this is ridiculous - he won't eat slightly old bread because it's "not fresh". He's TOASTING it, ffs, what difference does it make?!

great now I’m craving angry bunnies too. And not just normal ones. Oh no. Now I’m craving the M&S ones. And the Booths ginger ones.

At least my DH knows how to present them. Perfectly toasted, dripping in butter that goes all the way to the edges.

<toddling off to M&S .....>

ClaryFray Sat 10-Feb-18 11:06:34

I don't butter my hot cross buns hides

Dontfuckingsaycheese Sat 10-Feb-18 13:50:17

Has anybody mentioned cheese?

MichaelBendfaster Sat 10-Feb-18 15:17:58

Penguins shock shock shock

The point of a bacon sandwich is the contrast of crispy, savoury, hot bacon and soft, cool, blandish bread.

Wauden Sat 10-Feb-18 16:26:17

OP, how was his night on the sofa/in the car/in a hotel/other place?

GreenTulips Sat 10-Feb-18 16:41:46

Wish I'd not opened this thread and I've now been forced to edit my online food shop, adding a billion different varieties of hcb. grin
