To think we should all be paying attention to the facts about Andi Dier (Rose McGowan)?

Yes, another trans thread so I know many of you will automatically say I am BU. But this is important, I promise.

Rose McGowan was involved in what can be politely called a "verbal exchange" with an aggressive and antagonistic transwoman at a book signing last week. Rose retaliated verbally and the person was removed from the building. You can watch it here:

The person shouting at Rose (while she was reading from her new book about the rape and abuse she has experienced at the hands of male predators) has been identified as Andi Dier, a trans activist and campaigner. Rose is suffering a huge backlash; various venues have publicly stated that they are pulling bookings for future book tour dates citing her transphobic views. Consequently, she has now cancelled all remaining public appearances.

It has come to light that Andi Dier has a history of sexual assault with minors; young women have come forward saying Andi assaulted them at the age of 12/13/14. In addition, this Twitter thread details some of the paedophilic, fetishistic pornographic content Andi has posted online.

AIBU to think that all kinds of people, everywhere, should be alarmed that such a vile, abusive person has been able to get away with publicly attacking Rose, who precipitated the downfall of Weinstein and who was the first spark of the #MeToo movement?

Honestly it’s the crazy backlash that Rose has had on twitter which has me so suprised, it’s like I’m living in an alternative universe. Anyone on either side of the argument should be able to see that what Andi did at that event was wrong.

I always rolled my eyes when I hear of Radical Feminists speaking about “Peak Trans” but holy shit I’ve reached it.

Yet another case of a man trying to intimidate and silence a woman. No surprise. I don’t blame Rose for wanting to keep away for a bit but shame on any stores for cancelling her. She said nothing transphobic......quite the opposite.

Just because she has a cause does not mean she also needs to take on the Trans cause. They’re two separate things and any trans person who believes there’s a battle to be won needs to fight their own battle. Not slag off a woman who is discussing her own experiences.

And as for him turning out to be a sexual abuser of females....does not surprise me at all.

I think I hit peak trans reading about all this on twitter. Trans activists were trying to say there was no conflation between his paedophilic tendencies and his trans activism. They fully supported his violent outburst towards Rose was seen and in the name of trans rights and just ignored his sexual and predatory behaviours towards children.

You’d think Yewtree taught society nothing...

There is some support for Rose now coming through on Twitter, but it's drowned out by the handmaiden tans allies.

It’s like all common sense has gone out of the window. It’s bloody batshit. It’s not even like Rose has ever said anything that is remotely offensive to Trans people, previously she’s just said the experiences women have lived through are different to that of a Transwoman. She isn’t trying to diminish a Trans person experiences she just said they aren’t the same - which it isn’t factually wrong.

So she was attacked for not taking up the plight of trans women? And didn’t respond entirely perfectly after being attacked whilst reading aloud of her own trauma?

I hope the backlash is quickly turned back on her attacker.

It's crazy but it won't last, it's like a pendulum it'll swing to and fro and settle somewhere in the middle eventually. No consolation to Rose right now sadly.

The backlash Rose has had about this is disgusting. The man who screamed at her is disgusting, both in his behaviour to her, and his general behaviour and especially his asaulting chhildren. Yet he is still being defended. This has made a lot of my friends hit 'peaktrans' too, friends who have seen no issue with the whole thing so far have finally understood what I have been saying, this is a MRA/mens sexual rights movement.

I wonder what possible reason a sexual predator would have to try and shut Rose up talking about her sexual assault/rape. And to also bring up how men like him should be in female prisons eh. I hope he does go to prison over what he has done to those teen girls, I doubt he will, as trans seems to give people some kind of special status. Transactivists from around the globe are saying these women are making it up (coz women always lie about rape/sexual assault don't they..especially in large numbers) but these allegations have been around for years. Since 2012. So absolutely no way they are just being made up by 'TERFs' to try and discredit the 'amazing and brave' Andi

You would think that even the craziest of transactivists/transtrenders would distance themselves from this vile person once it came out what he was (as if his behaviour to start with wasn't bad enough). But no, the defence keeps on coming. Soon it will be the fault of feminists that this guy abused kids in the first place, can already see it.

Also yet again, the hypocrisy of the movement is shown up. Apparently 'transwomen are women'. Yet Rose was talking about 'women'and this was not good enough, suddenly 'transwomen' had to be a seperate entity and had to be centred when whatever they experience is fuck all to do with Rose. Her experiences must not be spoke about at all, instead she should be talking about how transowmen experience assault in apparenly larger numbers than 'real women' (I assume thats fine to say now, as activists are differentiating between the two). Which is bullshit. Obviously. Its just lie upon lie upon lie, upon narcisistic rage, upon memememememe upon lie.

Andi should be taken out of the trans debate.

Because a tiny minority of (apparent or actual) criminals should not be a serious let alone shaping force in society.

It does a massive disservice to the majority of the trans community otherwise.

And anyway, even if the heckler wasn't trans and even if the heckler hadn't turned out to be a paedophile abuser, it would still be YANBU.

A sex abuse survivor is allowed to centre herself when talking about sexual abuse and MVAWG. She is allowed to express rage and frustration. She has no obligation to be perfect about it. And, most of all, she is allowed to get shirty with a pig ignorant heckler, trans-identified or otherwise.
