Please help!

I had a surgical abortion. I've had to do a pregnancy test today to see if it was successful. I think there's a faint line. 2 lines indicates a possible failed abortion.
Can you see it? What do you think?

I can see a line. Sorry flowers

Looks off centre to me. Do you have another test to try

Rewn7 Wed 24-Jan-18 07:01:02

I can see a line too. Sorry flowers

How long ago was the termination? I would have thought there would still be some hormones floating around for a bit anyway.

Can you get an emergency GP appointment?

Sofabitch Wed 24-Jan-18 07:02:39

It can take a few days to test negative after a surgical abortion.

Peachyking000 Wed 24-Jan-18 07:04:25

Yes there is a line, I would only worry if the abortion was 7 days or more ago. If so, I’d be asking for an urgent ultrasound and blood hCG level. Hope it all works out ok flowers

BurningStar Wed 24-Jan-18 07:05:22

It's been 2 weeks, I've taken the test as instructed. I've got work this morning. Shit.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay Wed 24-Jan-18 07:06:54

Definitely positive. I’m sorry. Do you have a follow up phone number you can call?

Soubriquet Wed 24-Jan-18 07:07:04

Yes sorry I can see a line. I would test again just to incase that one was faulty. If it came up positive again, then I would be seeing a doctor asap

Afreshcuppateaplease Wed 24-Jan-18 07:07:31

Speak to your gp asap op

How many weeks were you at the abortion

Mary1935 Wed 24-Jan-18 07:07:48

How could a surgical abortion not work? I'm curious. How could you still be pregnant? How distressing for you.

SD1978 Wed 24-Jan-18 07:09:18

I would suggest seeing the GP for HCG levels. Positives can occur for up to a month, depending on how high the HCG level was pre termination.

LolitaLempicka Wed 24-Jan-18 07:11:29

Oh, I misread, you said surgical abortion OP. Did you mean medical abortion? (Pills)

BurningStar Wed 24-Jan-18 07:12:22

Sorry it wasn't surgical it was a medical! Sorry I have surgery on my mind this morning sad Sorry! I'm panicking.

BurningStar Wed 24-Jan-18 07:13:27

I'm awaiting a call back from a nurse now. I'm so scared.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds Wed 24-Jan-18 07:14:43

I think it's leftover hormones - that line is very faint. But yes you should see GP asap to be certain.

SleepFreeZone Wed 24-Jan-18 07:15:48

OP try not to worry at the moment, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t successful. If it was medical did you pass the sac? You can have a little bit of tissue left over (this happened to me post one of my natural miscarriages) and that continued to produce hormone until i got my next period. With that period I passed several large clots at the end and after that period I tested nagatice.

Lostoldusername Wed 24-Jan-18 07:16:14

I had a surgical termination and my tests were positive for 4 weeks after. I then got what I thought was my period and it was so heavy I was passing clots every few mins. Long story short I ended up in hospital for 3 days with retained products so please go and get checked out. (Don't want to worry you, I just wanted to let you know)

Foslady Wed 24-Jan-18 07:16:57

Another one saying please don’t immediately panic, those things work on tiny amounts of hormones so could be residual flowers

wonderingsoul Wed 24-Jan-18 07:18:02

If you was still pregnant surely the line would be darker? But as it's faint I would take it as the hcg levels are lowering and just artn out of your system yet.

Deff phone the gp and try not to worry flowers

ru345 Wed 24-Jan-18 07:19:18

Hormones left in body...repeat test in few days.

riledandharrassed Wed 24-Jan-18 07:24:43

Hope your OK op.

I’ve had one myself .

Either this is residual hormones or it hasn’t been successful ( this happened to someone I know .) please call your provider ASAP xxx
