AIBU?

AIBU to be annoyed by this?

So I live on a busy road, it’s always been busy and I accepted that when I moved her, but lately it’s getting busier.

With the building of the world’s worst planned bypass my road has basically become a motorway with lorries passing at all time of the day and night.

This is annoying enough and there’s nothing I can do about it, but it adds to my annoyance of this:

Every morning at 7.50 and evening at 5.27 there’s a shitty little motorbike with the world’s loudest engine. It wakes up DD (5months) every morning and it just makes me so angry.

I called the police and they said it was nothing to do with them and in fact went as far to explain all the other hinges that were more important to them (than a speeding, loud motorbike, roaring round the corner every morning and evening when school kids are being picked up/dropped off for the coaches). They said my local bobby would call me but I never heard anything.

I’ve tried to contact environmental health but you can only do that through a website form, and I can’t give any info cause the number is illegally displayed and not visible (my DH tries to see it most mornings).

It’s driving me insane, any ideas?? I’m not usually petty but this is really getting my goat.

Congratulations! You’ve completely wasted police time.

07:50 and 5:27 don't strike me as particularly unreasonable times to be going and returning from work - or wherever else.

They are annoying and there are some hard to enforce regulations but as PP says, 7.50 is a completely normal time to be awake.

So someone who is driving to work and then driving home again (presumably given the times you’ve mentioned)- so isn’t sitting outside your window with the engine running, must be passing by and gone again within, what, 30 seconds.... and you’ve complained to the police?!

Seriously.... Hmm

There is, indeed, nothing to be done. Unless you want to buy the commuter another form of transport.

Work on your own coping strategies- white noise, acceptance, changing routine etc

I do by understand why you phoned the police, what law has been broken?

Really? 7.50? White noise app on your phone. That'll block it out.

You called the POLICE for someone going to work at ten to eight in the morning. Wow.

Let me clarify... we get shit loads of traffic passing constantly, like I say, it’s become like a bypass which Is fine, but this is SO LOUD. Like, house shakingly loud. He also speeds round the corner where as I said, children are getting dropped off for the busses for school.

We get tons of bikes, lorries, and cars, but this one is just 🤬

7.50 isn’t unreasonable but if my daughter is asleep it is to me!

It is not unreasonable for someone to go to work.

Fuck me.

Your road can’t “basically” have become a motorway.

Seriously have a word with yourself.

Tmgc123 · 22/01/2018 13:15

Okaaaay... I’ll take that as a yes then 🤣 I mean I’m pretty sure they’re breaking the laws for acceptable sound limits (it’s louder than police sirens etc which is way louder than the legal limit for a bike that size)

Are there builders playing loud music by you right now by any chance?? Hmm I'm sorry the police weren't bothered by someone using a road to travel to or from work! Is it any wonder the world is falling apart Hmm

What do you want the police to do?
Take his bike away?!

I must be one of the most unreasonable noise-haters on the planet, but even I am a bit puzzled. The motorbike is just driving through? What on earth do you want anyone to do about it?

YANBU to be annoyed by it, fair enough, but YABU for everything else.

I'm sorry I'm in total disbelief but this bit is written as if you find it totally unreasonable that the police should have better things to do with their time than sort out one shitty little motorbike.

You know it's not like we're at a subststanial risk of terrorism, or any thing. Maybe those police on London bridge or in Manchester should have been sorting out your motorbike hay OP
Or you know people being murdered sure their already dead yep your motorbike is far more important yeah ok
Or women, being raped. Or children being abused no no your absolutely right your motorbike is far far far more important than all of those things I can see why you'd be pissed off with the police. NOT

And what schools are starting at 8.00am and finishing 5.27?

actually given the time you do realise this is probably some poor sod going to work and coming home every day? You know to pat taxes to pay got the police you've just phoned.

Sorry I actually have sympathy for you with it waking the baby, but your comment about the police annoyed me.

The world’s worst planned bypass

The world’s loudest engine

I called the police

Seems like an exhausting level of drama for an extremely minor annoyance.
