In a nutshell, landmark birthday later this year.

Am single, made redundant a few months ago, no one to celebrate with. I'd rather be alone than spend it with family me scapegoat, sister is goldenchild and they will just spoil it & make it about themsleves

I effectively have nowhere to go.

I can afford it but shouldn't until job situ is sorted

Wibu to raid my savings and take myself off on an adventure holiday / tour somewhere?

Yes do it! Live for today - go enjoy

I’d do it! Your landmark birthday won’t come around again and once you have a new job you might not get the chance!

Do it! Your money, your birthday, your life. Don’t answer to these people. You’d only regret it!

Will you regret it on your death bed? Probably not! I say do it!!!

(But don't leave yourself destitute)!

Well, as soon as you get a new job you’ll have lost the opportunity (time) so do it. I would if I could!

I did this last year. I went to Paris and it was marvellous. Do it!

Thing is my birthday is summer time.

Booking now I could have a job by then.

And if I could afford to do it again this year, I'd go to a retreat in India.

Take the time whilst you’re not working. It will get your head ready for something new too.

Just saw your update, celebrate early and go now.

To give an example planning to spend about £1k doing a retreat.

Have about 30 times that in savings.

Book it for soon - it’s the Year Of Big Birthday, certainly good enough.

Do it but don't leave yourself too short if you haven't got a new job sorted. Enjoy!

New jobs tend to honour holidays that are already booked. Just tell them straight away that you already have commitments for whatever dates. Maybe keep your adventure to 2 weeks or less as a new job wouldn't be happy with a 5 week break.

Oh god I couldn't afford a 5 week holiday .

Maybe 10 days max I was thinking
