To think the boots 70% sale is total greed?

My boots had 50% off for 3 weeks.
Nobody touched it hardly,ailes were empty.
Yesterday 8am ..50 people outside waiting to get in.
Then shelves empty by 9.30 am
People grabbing and pushing.
Clearing the shelves with their arms.
Buying 7 of the same thing.
Greed?
You weren’t bothered at 50% !!

How do you know people aren’t looking at what’s going in their baskets? What’s wrong with buying multiple cheap items if you’re going to use them/give them as presents?

I witnessed a woman yesterday just using her arm to get about 7-8 items in her basket.
Throwing items to a friend further up the aisle.

That kind of frenzied shelf-clearing is pretty grim IMO. Like the fights over TVs in black Friday sales from a few years ago. Yuck.

I had the misfortune to be in my local tesco when all the heavily reduced stuff was put out. People were grabbing armfuls without looking and lobbing it in their basket, then walking away and examining their loot and discarding the stuff they didn't want. I'm sure I've seen similar behaviour on David Attenborough documentaries. Yuck.

I’m talking about the people who ransack the shop to sell on etc.

Is it not greed on the part of Boots to be selling goods at such outrageously overpriced prices in the first place? Which they clearly are when you see how much they can afford to reduce them by. This is PLANNED stock for the sales, they know exactly how much they'll sell for christmas, and this is not accidental leftovers.

I heard on a fb page that the shoppers were grabbing stuff out of the cages of new stock that was being brought out and a customer service assistant was hit on the head with a pile of soap and glory boxes. It's pretty sickening, no-one needs to behave like that.

The shops are obviously trying to ramp up the hype to sell more stock but there need to be some rules that limit this kind of behaviour.

While I agree Boots gifts are overpriced, I don’t like the whole rampage when they’re 70% off as I’m sceptical that they’re used for genuine gifts and likely sold on at an inflated price through eBay and whatever. Have seen it happen with Monsoon clothes etc too.

People lose all decency and manners when there's cheap stuff on offer. Just like Black Friday.

I saw a video taken at one of my local stores, it was ridiculous. They were grabbing stuff out of the pallets and almost assaulting others to do so.

I really don't thinking this is about getting something because it is the only way you can afford it, it is as a pp said the majority of time to sell on.

I was at Boots when it opened (collecting) a prescription and had no idea what was going on. It was pretty grim and made it very clear that Soap and Glory is very over priced!

Do people really sell these on at a profit? To who? I think they're just doing next year's Christmas shopping in a 'fuck it that'll do' manner - all their female relatives will get a year old reduced Soap and Glory set or whatever was available.

This stuff has sat on the shelves in Boots for a few weeks. I had a quick look and thought it was still mostly overpriced tat at 50% off, which isn't that much of an offer anyway, because the 3 for 2 doesn't apply so it's only a small reduction from the 3 for 2 price.

So hardly any scope for profit really once you've taken ebay fees and postage into account. Does the stuff actually work out cheaper than buying the same stuff without the gift packaging? Could they just be stocking up on toiletries for the year?

A lot of stuff left in ours was bayllis and Harding (over priced ) and soap and glory.
All the no7 had long gone.

Why is it greed. If people are desperate enough to do this for low value items then good luck to them. Boots is very overpriced and the assistants are top of my list of surly unhelpful miseries. I hardly ever go in there now if I can help it.

I once went to a Boden sale which was quite unbelievable. I left with nothing. It’s perfectly reasonable to stock up on heavily reduced items but that environment does not bring out the best in people.

It’s pure greed when people have cleared shelves and then, before they get to the checkout, dump the items that they quite literally swiped off the shelves that they don’t actually want. I was at our local boots yesterday, clearly had missed the hype about 70% off sale as I was completely aghast at how grown women were pushing, shoving and snatching like pre school children.
