WWYD - would you let your 5 year old DD stay overnight in a house with an adult who had been accused of historical sexual abuse of a minor but been found not guilty at Crown Court?

Partypopper123 · 20/01/2018 07:57

No

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 20/01/2018 07:57

No, just because they were found not guilty doesn't mean they didn't do it

Dogsfoxes · 20/01/2018 07:57

What?? The only answer is NO

Monoblock67 · 20/01/2018 07:57

Not a chance.

Jenala · 20/01/2018 07:57

No.

sillyoldowl · 20/01/2018 07:57

No never

Neolara · 20/01/2018 07:57

No.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 20/01/2018 07:58

So no chance of innocent until proven guilty on mumsnet?

Horses4 · 20/01/2018 07:58

No!

Poshindevon · 20/01/2018 07:58

No I would not.
Why would you even think about it?

Slartybartfast · 20/01/2018 08:00

but they have been found not guilty, and presumably this isnt a stranger. is it a family member?

Afreshcuppateaplease · 20/01/2018 08:01

Honestly not worth the risk

TammySwansonTwo · 20/01/2018 08:02

Innocent until proven guilty is for a courtroom. Given the shocking conviction rates for sexual offences, you're extremely naive if you only distrust those with a conviction around your children.

Then again, my abuser was never so much as questioned so I'm going to be extremely cautious about where my kids spend the night, regardless of anything else.

Slartybartfast · 20/01/2018 08:02

what risk? they are not guilty

jellycat1 · 20/01/2018 08:02

Of course not. People can get off on all sorts of technicalities. Maybe totally innocent but wouldn't take that chance.

Slartybartfast · 20/01/2018 08:02

there is obviously more to this scenario.
need more information. very unfair question.

TiredMumToTwo · 20/01/2018 08:03

I don’t want but my husband does - it is my DD’s maternal grandfather (dh’s step-Dad) so obviously will massively impact on DH’s Mum and his relationship with her.

Whatshallidonowpeople
Nobody’s advocating harressing person but leaving your defenceless innocent child vulnerable is definitely not the action of a loving parent

why12345 · 20/01/2018 08:04

Not in a million years!!!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 20/01/2018 08:04

You cannot be certain they are not guilty

Who is this person to the dd? What reason is there for her to sleep there?

ChasedByBees · 20/01/2018 08:04

Absolutely not.

So no chance of innocent until proven guilty on mumsnet?

You’d take that chance with your 5 year old child would you? No child ‘needs’ to stay somewhere away from parents (I’m assuming that’s what’s happening rather than a parent is involved with someone previously accused).

Slartybartfast · 20/01/2018 08:04

do you believe he is guilty?
