AIBU?

Neighbour knocked on door at 6.30am for this reason

To tell me my dustbin had blown into her garden and was repeatedly smashing against her wall.

It’s awkward as even if I knew about this, I doubt I’d have knocked to retrieve my bin back and relive her in the fear I’d have woken her up...

I’m not sure if she knew her rubbish had blown all over the street

Was there a particular reason that she couldn't move it herself? At least enough to stop it banging?

If she couldn't, then I think it was maybe fair enough if it was keeping her awake.

What did she want you to do?

It’s a tough one, We are normally up and about from 6.00, earlier if there is adverse weather. So seems acceptable to me. But I know that others will tell you that it isn’t.

After storms in the past DH has been outside with a chainsaw at 5:30 in the morning, to clear debris to make sure the kids got to school ok.

I would assume she wanted you to go round and get your bin from her garden to stop it banging on the wall. Unless I am missing something.

Why didn't she deal with it herself?

I'd have knocked her fuck out..

..Unless there was some vaild she couldn't move it herself and notify you later

So she couldn't just pick up the bin and put it back on your side. Instead of potentially waking a full family. Hmm
It's not like you asked the wind to blow it over just to annoy her. Confused

"Really? Thanks so much for telling me, I'll sort it when I get up," then stagger back to bed till a reasonable hour.

well it was your bin, it was prob making a noise and damaging her wall and she wanted you to retrieve it. Was it scattering rubbish everywhere?
Not sure why others think it was her job to move your bin?

Maybe this thing had been keeping her awake all night and she had waited until what she thought was an acceptable hour to say something about it.

I'd have knocked her fuck out..

Then you'd have been arrested and rightly.

I wonder if she'd gone a bit gonzo after a night of bad sleep? Mind you you'd think then she'd have got off her bum a bit earlier and moved the thing herself...

Does she usually have a tenuous grasp on reality or is she normally fairly, well, normal?

Shock That is unacceptable unless you live in an isolated location miles from anywhere else.

Depends - my parent live in a village on a very well used main road. If it wasn't for people in the village going out and clearing trees, branches etc. they'd have fairly regular deaths on that road from people rushing along poorly lit stretches to get to the motorway. If you know there's a problem that puts other in danger, dealing with it is not only acceptable, it's responsible. Certainly more useful than pearl-clutching over a bit of noise.
