Freaks me out and concerns me- didn't click on it, but the angle as well!! Girls might not necessarily see it as bordering perverse, really worries me how some young men would; I agree the name is distinct and vile. What's worse is my dd shops mainly from asos.

Absolutely horrible.

Rabblemum Wed 17-Jan-18 19:10:52

I can understand why some woukd find it offensive but all my son’s tees have skulls, zombies or something offensive on them.

I don’t think they meant it as suicide fashion. I don’t think it’s meant to look like she’s hanging. I think it’s a kink thing and she’s looking submissive. It’s obly called ‘hanger’ because that’s the brand name (they have many items by hanger).

MissWilmottsGhost Wed 17-Jan-18 19:00:55

It's not a belt is it? It is described as a 'choker' and doesn't have holes in for a waist size. It is actually meant to be worn around the neck?

Fuck me, suicide fashion. Consumerism hits a new low confused

Totally inappropriate

YABU- it is nothing to get worked up about

user1476641978 Wed 17-Jan-18 18:49:41

I’m not offended easily either and am usually the one shouting ‘who honestly cares!’ But would say this is really inappropriate. Suggestiveness aside, looks like a health and safety hazard right up there with flammable shell suits.

Smudge100 Wed 17-Jan-18 18:44:53

Sick.

DavetheCat2001 Wed 17-Jan-18 18:26:37

It's been removed from the site

To anyone who was NOT offended by the photo/item did you actually click and look at the photo??
Yes

RaqsMax Wed 17-Jan-18 18:15:49

Totally inappropriate to be marketing this on a teen clothing site. It is clearly an allusion to auto-eroticism where some people hang themselves from a hook and self-strangulate for sexual gratification. It can sadly go wrong and there are many cases of accidental death with this practice (Michael Hutchence, for example).

Some teens might confuse this with suicide and hanging. It is just exploitative and tasteless.

nellieellie Wed 17-Jan-18 18:14:45

What I don’t quite understand is that they have a range of “hanger” clothes - jacket and tops? Am I missing something?

busymomtoone Wed 17-Jan-18 18:13:39

My teenage daughter and her friends shop on this website- I was going to repost this on Facebook to suggest boycotting a company which has chosen to glorify suicide/ violence using young woman ( 17 at max?) imagery to flog a tacky plastic belt- However having seen all the links to newspaper articles, suspect this was a cynical company marketing ploy in the ( hopefully wrong) belief of “ any publicity is good publicity “. Well not in my book, I have made my daughter delete their app from her phone and. Pokemon to several other mum’s who now feel no more inclined to let their daughters browse on Asos than on porn or suicide hubs. Appalling misjudgment by mainstream company.

wildchild554 Wed 17-Jan-18 18:03:29

very offensive considering, the audience, the age range and amount of teen suicides. amazed this was allowed, would understand in a fetish magazine or something like that but not this. Hope you contacted them op

It’s awful. Can not believe they sell that in a mainstream place

DeleteOrDecay Wed 17-Jan-18 17:57:06

I think ASOS appeals to quite a wide range of ages. It's not just for teenagers but they do cater to them.

Have you all nothing better to do?

No, bye.

jayne1976 Wed 17-Jan-18 17:56:29

Saw it earlier today - it is very sick

Undercoverbanana Wed 17-Jan-18 17:52:09

Er - ASOS is for teens? I shop with ASOS a lot and I'm 50.

However - that belt/tie/necklace, or whatever it is supposed to be, is unpleasant and inappropriate for anyone at best and creepy and offensive at worst.

Totally inappropriate- who on earth thought this was a good idea???

Flowerpot1234 Wed 17-Jan-18 13:20:13

Hanger? Choker? Eyes shut and looks like she's hanging and dead?

That is wholly vile and disgusting. ASOS need their heads testing.
