AIBU to still have hope? Bleeding at 5 weeks pregnant :(

I got my BFP on Monday and since then have had more and more pregnancy symptoms, including sore boobs, nausea, feeling exhausted (went to sleep at 8pm last night!) and needing to wee about 10 times a day! However, unfortunately I have also had pink spotting, which this morning has progressed into splotches of red blood sad (it's Friday morning where I am and I'm 5 weeks tomorrow.)

I have already had 2 MCs, both at 6 weeks although one was an MMC and I didn't find out until 8 weeks, and am so desperate to hold on to this little one. Honestly, do you think I should give up hope? I had bloods taken on Monday and am going for another blood test today to see if my HCG levels have been rising, but should I expect that the results will be negative? Please help, I'm scared sad

I should add that my HCG levels on Monday were very low sad 7.8, but I was only 4+2 then and I think implantation had only just happened.

Holding your hand xx no words of advice but couldn't not post

Secretlifeofme Thu 11-Jan-18 23:36:41

Thanks LEM, I appreciate it. I just really don't want another loss. It's so soul-destroying sad

Don't give up hope, bleeding in the first trimester isn't always sinister. I have 2 friends this happened to and they have healthy, happy children! I can't imagine how worried you feel right now and I hope it's good news for you flowers

Holding some hope for you and your little one. I bled for quite a few weeks with my first. Hoping all is well for you flowers

Itscurtainsforyou Thu 11-Jan-18 23:39:52

Hoping all is ok for you. I had 3 early miscarriages and I know how tough I found it.

Fingers crossed for you OP. I didn’t have bleeding, but with my DD (now 3 months) my hcg was measured at 4 + 2 weeks due to previous mc and it was 22. Doctors basically said it was too low. It did increase and pregnancy was absolutely fine. So the number alone means nothing.

I was also given a progesterone supplement as apparently that was low too. No idea if it helped but at least it felt like I was doing something. Hugs - it’s the most horrible time

Sorry to hear about your previous losses.

Bleeding is often seen by people as a bad sign (and for some it is), but others have quite a lot of bleeding and still have a healthy pregnancy. Every woman's body and every pregnancy is different.

Good luck for your hcg test. I hope the results don't take too long to come back. flowers

I can’t add anything to this but a massive hand hold. I hope everything and you are okay x

Aw Secret I wish I had a crystal ball for you. I had bleeding in the early days with DD who’s now two. My friend bled loads through her pregnancy with her DD who’s now four. I think you have to hope, because what’s the alternative?

I wish the very best of luck to you, I really do flowers

Secretlifeofme Thu 11-Jan-18 23:43:47

Thanks all. @Caterina99 I had progesterone supplements last time when I had a threatened miscarriage - didn't work obv sad - but the doc said she didn't want to give them to me on Monday in case it was an ectopic pregnancy, as obviously if it is, they don't want to boost it.

If it helps I had some quite heavy bleeding around that time with both of my dc and both are happy, healthy, strapping young men now. You don’t get warned about the possibility of this happening and it is terrifying at the time. I know I cant tell you not to worry but I have heard of many, many other cases since and they have been fine but also didn’t know it was a possibility. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.💐

Try not to stress. A little bleeding is normal, an after effect of implantation. I had it with all my healthy pregnancies. I pray this wee one holds on for you... sending my best wishes, keep us updated

milliemolliemou Thu 11-Jan-18 23:46:34

Good luck OP. Huge hug and just take care of yourself.

Secretlifeofme Thu 11-Jan-18 23:47:39

I really appreciate all the support guys, thank you flowers. Luckily, because I live and work abroad, I have private Healthcare which means I can get the results of my tests back very quickly, usually within a couple of hours, so at least I'll know.

Bearfrills Thu 11-Jan-18 23:51:13

Best of luck, OP, keeping everything crossed for you. I've had bleeding in every pregnancy, I have four DC and have had two mc, it doesn't necessarily mean anything bad and spotting at the 4-6wk mark is really common.

TW1984 Thu 11-Jan-18 23:56:31

I bled relatively heavily when 5 weeks pregnant with my daughter. She is an IVF baby, and as we had two embryo's put back, I think my bleeding was her twin not making it.
There could be any number of reasons for early bleeding - not all bad.
Sending you love and best wishes x

Can I ask those of you who have had bleeding, how much have you had? I have literally had a tinge of pink on the tissue when I wiped since Monday, but this morning I had a splotch of red blood a bit bigger than a 50p and have just checked and have two tiny spots of red two hours later. Sorry for TMI but what volume of blood do you think I need to worry about and how did that compare to the bleeding you experienced if you ended up with a healthy pregnancy?

namechangedtoday15 Thu 11-Jan-18 23:56:42

I had quite heavy bleeding at 5+1. All turned out ok.

TW1984 Thu 11-Jan-18 23:59:02

From what you've described, you've bled less than I did during my pregnancy. Try not to lose hope just yet. I was convinced all was over... I was wrong.

I had two misssd mc, then two healthy pregnancies. With the first healthy pregnancy I didn’t have any bleeding but with the second I had quite a lot at about 6 weeks I think - was sure it was another mc, but everything was fine. Fingers crossed for you too.

Pink with all of them and also red. With DC1 had bleeds right up until 24wks and was admitted at one point for monitoring as it was so heavy. With DC3 I had a mini period every four weeks exactly when my period would have been due, I'd have 2-3 hours of bright red spotting and then it would stop until the next four weeks, up until around 6m. DC4 I had HG and kept having bleeds after throwing up. DC2 I had pink spotting at 8wks and then nothing more. MC1 I had brown spotting that turned dark red and then got heavier and heavier. MC2 I had pink and red spotting at 6wks and 8wks, healthy scan at 12wks, then a single spot of dark brown blood at 15wks, scan at 16wks showed a mmc at 15+4.

Snowysky20009 Fri 12-Jan-18 00:05:47

Nothing to add but fingers crossed for you flowers

RedialCallHold Fri 12-Jan-18 00:12:03

I had heavy bleeding on and off from 6 weeks which then lessened from about 15 weeks, stopping altogether at 19 weeks. This followed a MMC I had so I was a wreck at the time but, that nightmare pregnancy is now a beautiful 3 year old sleeping upstairs as I type. Fingers crossed for you flowers
