To be really cheeky and ask how much your new kitchen cost?

I know this is very un-British but hopefully some people will be willing to share under the cloak of anonymity!

I’m toying with the idea of a new kitchen but struggling to get a basic idea of what a kitchen costs nowadays. I’ve tried the online quote things but I’m not sure how reliable they are. Plus when I did them for a bathroom is was wildly different to what we actually ended up paying!

If anyone wants to shake a photo I’d be very grateful. I’m wanting a traditional country style.

We’ve just spent 4.5 k on kitchen from wickes inc washer and dishwasher

Range cooker and fridge freezer another 1.8

1k on replastering

900 on flooring

4.5 on labour and other materials (4 new doors, back door and new window)

I paid £4550 for the units, worktops and appliances from Ikea. Oven and microwave were £400 each and fridge freezer was £795.
Then I paid about £300 for the floor tiles.
£150 for the wall tiles.
And about £1600 for fitting and the grout and adhesive.
I also had the fitter put in a new back door and 2 doors elsewhere downstairs so that took a day and a half from the labour costs.
I love it.

It's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question. Prices vary enormously between suppliers, sizes, types of units, worktops, appliances etc. Somewhere between £2-3k and £30k+ depending.

I think ours was around £7k for everything including appliances, ikea units, (quality very good for the price) laminate worktops, fitting, but it is quite large with an island and lots of units and a stupidly expensive ceiling mounted extractor.

Shaker style kitchen, wooden worktop. Managed to keep the old floor, salvage the sink, bought the fridge and the washing machine second hand, did the fitting myself - only a galley kitchen.

But did it for £1300 all in, including new cooker, dishwasher, cupboards, work top, lights and the other second hand appliances.

Our rules: never reuse pipe, never reuse wires. Anything else is game for salvage.

We went with Benchmarx who sell the identical kitchens to Wickes but at less than half the price.
Including fitting and a dishwasher ours was 6k.
(Oven and fridge freezer stayed the same)

Foodfrax can't you just buy new doors and retile or paint the walls instead of having a whole new kitchen?

If the kitchen itself is solid you can keep the carcasses and replace the doors and worktops to give it a spruce up while keeping the costs down.

Half way through the kitchen but had to stop for Christmas. Not really the best time of year.....right before Christmas to start changing a kitchen but only have the wall, floor tiles, kick boards and side panels to put in to do now...oh and some new stools

Ours was £17k, to basically remove every single thing in the kitchen (it’s a big room) and utility and replace it all (including appliances).

Our quartz worktops and splashback we’re about £5k on their own though, because we only liked the expensive silestone.

Our kitchen is about 18ft by 9.

Our kitchen was about 5k from Wren. Plus 1k on a range cooker.

£1700 for the insulated plasterboard, plastering walls and ceiling.

1k on the Amtico floor and fitting.

And about 2k to fit it, including electrics and gas.

25k with a range, large American fridge-freezer, extra oven/micro combo, boiling water tap, wine fridge, extractor etc. All hand made to measure in English Oak and painted in Farrow and Ball. I still think we got a brilliant deal.

Without knocking down walls there isn't much I can do to the layout of my kitchen. Recently though I replaced the floor, worktops and handles and it looks completely different! I'm very pleased with it, although I am going to enquire about replacing the door and drawer fronts fairly soon.

I feel v poor now... our kitchen was new in our house as it was a new build but i’d never be able to afford anything remotely like any of these. I’ve been out of work unemployed for 4 months and can’t even contemplate this sort of money on anything, let alone a kitchen. 😖😳

Still, it’s lovely to dream and look at others’ and there is nothing wrong with ours so i’m grateful for what I have.

From start to finish, with a bit of renovation work, we spent just over £15k.

We have a galley kitchen so opted for no top cupboards and it hasn't half made it look more spacious.
