AIBU?

To not want new rings?

BringMeCoffee · 18/12/2017 19:16

I have an engagement ring, wedding ring and eternity ring. I remove them when I bathe, shower and had also recently been decorating so hadn't been wearing them whilst I did it. I have a toddler who is like a magpie. I realised they were missing but cannot find them anywhere. I have turned my house literally upside down. My Husband has said he will claim them on the insurance but I am so upset. I don't want new ones. I can't even sleep thinking about where they are! Do I sound really ungrateful telling my Husband I don't want new ones. I don't want to sound like a brat but I just want mine back! :'(

They must be in the house somewhere, no? They will turn up - don't panic, look again tomorrow when you're calm.

Not at all, they are the original rings and I wouldn’t want brand new ones either. Maybe hold off a bit longer and see if they turn up. If you’re anything like me they could be in the most random of places. Can you remember the last time you had them on? I usually try and picture what the day was like and re trace..

Oh no I'm so sorry.

Just talk to your husband about how you feel. Maybe you can spend the money on something else or get one ring, or something, clearly replacing the ones you've lost "like for like" just won't be the same.

In the meantime where does a kid put rings? Have you checked bin / bed / nappies for a while, erm. Pushchair. In with toys. God I'm so sorry.

Mine fell down the gap between the bed frame and the mattress.

If your toddler is older ( and not a 10 month old ) , bribe them with sweets to find your rings .

How long have they been missing? What if you put another ring out (with no sentimental value) and watched the toddler like a hawk? They might take it to the same hiding place?

Totally understand DH wedding split and I paid more to get it fixed than I think it originally cost - he didn’t want a new ring.

What about using a metal detector, I’ve no idea how you’d get one? Face-ache-book appeal?

Have you checked inside the radiators? Also the behind drawer for washing powder in the washing machine? Speaking from experience with two toddlers.

Base tube of the tv. We found everything from £20 notes, coins and jewellery in there when ours were little. Good luck!

Mine also (weirdly) fell between the bed frame and the mattress...how odd!

And look in the bottom of the bin too - DSis's Gucci watch was in there!!!

Give them something ring shaped and watch where they put it!

Same thing happened to me with my engagement ring. We tried everything, including leaving out a 'fake' ring and then watching toddler closely to see where he hid it. (And going through the bins but I'e blanked that from my mind...) We found it under the sofa several months later. Don't give up they are somewhere in the house and will most likely turn up. Flowers

My toddler put our car keys in the bbq. Look for anything at their height. Good luck

He didn’t eat them did he?

I lost mine and couldn't find them for ages. Found them in an envelope, about a year later.

When I went into labour with DS2, DS1 hid our car keys under the doormat.

Our car keys were wedged into the gap behind the radiator - they'll be somewhere you don't rationally expect. Good luck!

Go through the bins carefully! My DS put a wallet with a large amount of cash in the morning the rubbish was collected....

I love the suggestion that you give them something ring shaped and see what they do with it! Genius!

In any toys or bags they have, mine like the boot of the little tikes car. DS once placed my mums keys between the space of the outside and inside letter box flap, because she has a porch with a letterbox and this was in the door we might never have found them f DS hadn't remembered.

If they had been left in the bathroom look in any bath toy storage, in living room try toy box and any drawers or cupboards
