It has a tail. Don't read any further if you don't like this sort of thing.

Better garden than loo.

FittonTower · 17/12/2017 09:37

I had a badger in my garden. The stripey shit dug up all my daffodils

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 17/12/2017 09:37

Cat?

Such bustards, cats.

DottyBlue2 · 17/12/2017 09:37

Sorry, I meant to add my qualifying post a bit quicker ....

Yes, it's a rat. Bear with me as it's a long story and my auto correct is going into overdrive.

SaucyJack · 17/12/2017 09:39

Is it a local man, Edward?

ShimmeringBollox · 17/12/2017 09:39

There's a rat in your garden, what you gonna do?

MaidenMotherCrone · 17/12/2017 09:40

I'm really disappointed it isn't a yak or an elk.

Everyone has a rat in their garden, not everyone spots them thoughWink

DottyBlue2 · 17/12/2017 09:45

I live in a country village and the houses are higgledy piggedly connected to each other.

Next door used to be a shop. Now the council thought it would be a great idea to allow it to be turned into a greasy restaurant. My neighbour in the it her side has already had rats nesting in his garage and I pointed this out to the council who ignored it..

The cafe has opened and they leave their kitchen door open to allow the fumes to escape. The smell in my garden is disgusting - greasy chip fat smells, roast meat smells. I also saw the chef hacking up 2 dozen pheasants in his outside bit and yes, bird feathers have been blown into my garden. I asked the cafe owner to close his kitchen door and he refused.

So, about an hour ago, in broad daylight, for the first time EVER - I actually see a bloody rat under my trellis fence - it's a bit rickety and full of gaps (the fence) which is how I saw the rat so quickly.

My AIBU - am I right to categorically blame the cafe smells for encouraging a eat into my garden?

As I said, we're very close to the NDN, boundary fences etc, so I don't think it's a coincidence Angry

Who else is singing "There's a rat in my kitchen what am I gonna dooo."Grin

LEMtheoriginal · 17/12/2017 09:51

Rats are everywhere yes they are and seeing a rat in my garden wouldn't bother me but it's everything else and if the OP previously hasn't seen rats then it's a good bet they are coming from the greasy spoon next door. I'd report it move

CuriousaboutSamphire · 17/12/2017 09:51

As I currently have a horde of them in my loft space I can't muster much sympathy for some in a garden, outside, where they belong!

They seem to like the poison too, they've eaten a lot of it... with and without peanut butter! At least we have found their entrance hole... hopefully they'll be gone in a month or so!

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/12/2017 09:51

Get yourself a terrier. Will sort out the rats (and, if your garden isn't totally secure, the restaurant will also learn to close their door or lose most of tomorrow night's dinners - terriers can jump really high, she said bitterly, having lost half a cake that was definitely, definitely safe on the worktop).

user1478939671 · 17/12/2017 09:53

How kind of the council to allow a stinking, greasy cafe next to home dwellings. Wonder if this would happen at Buck Palace or Downing Street.

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/12/2017 09:53

Also, v posh greasy restaurant if it's serving pheasant...

I head them under my shed, I used to feed the birds with seed. I had a to stop for a while, I put little blue blocks of poison under the shed and within a month they were gone. I now feed the birds with fat balls, much less mess and no more long tailed horrors (shudder)

Thedietstartsnow · 17/12/2017 09:54

Curious oh my god,how are you so calm ,how did they get in?

NurseButtercup · 17/12/2017 09:54
