AIBU?

To not remove my negative feedback on amazon ?

Ordered an item 8 weeks ago and it still haven't arrived. It was needed for an event last week so I don't even really need it now but I will keep it (if it ever turns up) . The seller is from overseas so I was prepared to wait that's why I ordered so far in advanced. It was estimated to arrive on 3rd dec. I recently reviewed the item giving it 1 star and stating I'm still yet to receive it .

The seller has now contacted me offering to refund half the money if I delete my review and add a positive one. I think this is wrong as how can I give good feedback on something I haven't received and don't really need now. I feel they are trying their best to help me. Aibu to leave my negative feedback and accept the refund?

Have they given you a good enough reason why it hadn't arrived when arrival date was 3rd Dec?

They have said it may have been a customs delay or due to the snow disruption. But the snow didn't even happen till after that date anyway Hmm

Hmm Hmm I'd wait till the item arrives before amending feedback. If everything else is okay just change the feedback to whatever you feel it deserves, but knock 1/2 stars off for late delivery (and state that in your feedback). That's totally fair, and I'm sure they'd understand why.
I do think they should owe you some money back anyway if they knew it was needed by a specific date.

Personally I find it a bit annoying when people give really low scores for an item that they haven’t received. On Amazon I expect the reviews to reflect the quality of the product, not the service of the seller. I certainly don’t blame you for not agreeing to change your review to a positive one, but I would probably do as pp said and amend your feedback when it arrives.

I'd wait until the item arrives, as you may wish to pursue a full refund if it never turns up, and posting a positive review would indicate that you have received it.

Paying half price for an item that never arrives is still too expensive!

This, its really annoying espcially when you consider on Amazon the majority of items are sold by multiple sellers.

Wait for the item before posting any negative feedback. If you see a misrepresentation between the product and the ad and the packaging is so poor, then by all means let it reflect in your feedback.

I had this on Amazon, I ordered something which was coming from the other side of the world, and when it didn't arrive by the deadline I messaged the seller, and got no response, so I left a review saying item not received and no response from the seller. I then got a response saying that they would refund me but only if I took my review down. I refused and told them I'd take it up with amazon and my credit card company, and got a refund a day later. It was a lot of hassle really for an item which cost about £8, but there's no way I'd take down an honest review just to get a refund. Incidentally it never showed up so no idea what happened there!

Is it an obscure thing that you ordered? Can you google it and see if there are delays everywhere? The only time this happened to me on Amazon is when my son ordered some Nerf thing that was backordered everywhere.

If they've kept you up to speed on everything, I think it's possibly unfair to leave bad feedback.

I'm pretty certain on Amazon you can review a seller and a product separately.

It was amazon that kept emailing me asking for feedback and as I was annoyed the item wasn't here in time I thought I may as well warn other buyers. The sellers themselves do have very good communication and have tried to resolve things , but this is only since the review was posted. I've never left a bad review on amazon but it's very annoying when you need something to be delivered and it never arrives. As for the half refund they have asked me to confirm I've received it and so far 2 days on it's not showing up In my bank account.

I would remove the review purely because the product feedback is for the product not the service.

I agree with PPs, there's no point reviewing an item you have t received. The item reviews are for the item not the seller. Just as bad are the 5 star reviews that say, "I haven't received the item yet but the communication with the seller has been second to none." Why boost the star rating when you might later receive a product that is simply crap.

I've just checked and my review isn't even showing up. Surely they can't delete it themselves without me agreeing?

Maybe sellers can ask for reviews that don't reflect the product in anyway to be deleted?

You're justified in your annoyance with the service you've recieved, but there must be a complaints and refund process to go through separately from the product review process.

I'm baffled that you've accepted half a refund. I've only had two items that were more thsn a few dsys late from amazon. By the time I hit two weeks late I asked for a full refund as I assumed they weren't coming. Neither item ever turned up and both items had been from international sellers. I think sometimes things just get lost in the post, which is probably what has happened here. I wouldn't leave a bad review though, unless I didn't get the refund. Is it really the seller's fault if the postal service has got it wrong?

I'm also baffled by the half-refund situation. Is this meant to be a reduction in price rather, i.e. you still get what you ordered, or a refund? Is it personalised or something?

Amazon can delete the review because it wasn't about the product

Report
sandytime · 17/12/2017 07:27

The part refund is because of the delay but I will ask for the remainder of the cost if it's not here in another week.

They might have reported the review and Amazon would have removed it as it isn't about the product. I hate it when people leave reviews like that, it skews the star rating and isn't helpful at all (there are multiple sellers of most items). There is a separate place to leave feedback on the specific seller (go to order details and 'leave seller feedback'). Though I would always contact the seller and try to resolve before doing that, I think it's unfair to leave a negative review without having done that. The fact that they send auto emails through Amazon to try and get postitive feedback on the product suggests that there's been a problem with the postal system...

Well amazon kept pestering me to leave a review and now I have they've deleted it because it's not a positive one!

But Amazon were pestering you to leave a review about the product. You don’t have a product so shouldn’t have left a review. Is it that difficult to ignore an email? How many did they send you when pestering? (I don’t think I ever get more than 2 or 3 over a month or so)
