to think it is ok to have 'cuddles in bed with 8yo DD at bedtime?

I am a regular but have gone anon for this. I have a lovely 8yo daughter and we are very affectionate with each other. Hugs, kisses, tickling, playfights. I thought this was all normal and ok. As she has got older I have told her that she is too big for lots of shows of affection in public but it is fine at home. So at home she sometimes still cuddles me sat on my lap and at bedtime she likes me to come into her bed and have a cuddle before she goes to sleep. This is for maybe five minutes before I go back downstairs. She also occasionally sleeps in my bed if she has had a nightmare. She has now come home from school and is upset that one of her friends said it was 'icky' she has 'cuddles in bed', which is what she calls it, with her mum. I said she was getting a bit big for it but it was up to her if she wanted me to stop. She then cried even more and said she loves cuddles in bed and doesn't want to stop. So now I don't know if it is inappropriate or not, it never occurred to me it wasn't as she is still my little girl. I obviously don't expect her to carry on doing it forever but I was going to take my lead from her as to when to stop. We started the cuddles in bed after a house fire when she was scared. At first I had to stay till she was asleep, now I only stay five minutes. I have an older daughter who grew out of being so affectionate naturally. Help!
