monkeysox Tue 12-Dec-17 18:06:12

angry

Oldraver Tue 12-Dec-17 18:06:31

No you dont...I would be furious.

The virus can be very harmful to babies

Marmighty Tue 12-Dec-17 18:07:03

Yadbnu - cold sore virus can be extremely serious in babies. Did you say anything to the person? They need to be educated in case they make a habit of kissing babies.

Aeroflotgirl Tue 12-Dec-17 18:07:20

It can be fatal. Have your baby check out by a Dr

Flumplet Tue 12-Dec-17 18:07:58

Ffs yanbu what is wrong with some people?!!

HoosierDaddy Tue 12-Dec-17 18:08:06

YANBU
Firstly they can be dangerous to babies.
Secondly it is gross to share kissy coldsores with anyone.

MrsDneedsaB Tue 12-Dec-17 18:08:24

No yanbu. Depending on the age of the baby they can be seriously ill by coming into contact with the cold sore virus!

I would definitely object and it was totally stupid of the person with the cold sore to do without questioning it

Fluffycoffeemachine Tue 12-Dec-17 18:08:26

He was premature too ffs I'm livid

ConciseandNice Tue 12-Dec-17 18:08:43

Good grief!! YADNBU.

Terrible. You need to say something in case they are an inveterate baby kisser. Gross and dangerous.

MyBrilliantDisguise Tue 12-Dec-17 18:08:59

I'd be absolutely furious. What kind of idiot would do that?

blue2014 Tue 12-Dec-17 18:09:12

How old is the baby? It's rare for it to be very dangerous and it gets less dangerous as the Baby gets older. It's gross but on the head is at least better than mouth (they're still very wrong I just don't want you to panic)

Moonyroony Tue 12-Dec-17 18:09:22

Absolutely bloody NOT!!!!

Christ, I only finished a reading a story about a young baby who died due to the herpes virus (after being kissed). That baby was kissed on the mouth though. YADNBU to not want anyone with cold sores kissing your baby, really they should know better tbh.

Spartaca Tue 12-Dec-17 18:09:26

How old is your baby? I would be fucked off beyond measure.

Fluffycoffeemachine Tue 12-Dec-17 18:09:44

He's 8 weeks and was 5 weeks premature

Fellia Tue 12-Dec-17 18:10:23

Ugh I’ve got one at the moment and wouldn’t dream of doing this.

Cupoteap Tue 12-Dec-17 18:11:35

I don't know anyone now a days who would do this what a critin fangry

RainbowWish Tue 12-Dec-17 18:12:54

That is shocking and sore rude!
I don't miss my own kids if I have a cold sore.
There has been so much awareness about this in the news etc so the person should know already.
Did you say anything to the person?

Fluffycoffeemachine Tue 12-Dec-17 18:13:54

No I was too shocked and she wouldnt understand anyway

ShuttyTown Tue 12-Dec-17 18:13:54

Jesus. It can be life threatening, I'd take your baby to a dr tomorrow to be on the safe side. This person needs a severe speaking to

Fluffycoffeemachine Tue 12-Dec-17 18:20:29

Ive phoned 111 they just said phone back if he becomes unwell. Tonight's going to be an anxious one

RainbowWish Tue 12-Dec-17 20:23:56

I am so sorry this thoughtless person did this.
I hope your night goes okay and you little one has no reaction. ❤

FarFrom Tue 12-Dec-17 20:26:57

I agree it’s really bad- but they may not have well not have known. It’s not something people without babies are necessarily aware of. Hope your baby is okay.

Ansumpasty Tue 12-Dec-17 20:30:56

I'd be angry too, what an idiot.
Do you get coldsores, op? If you do, baby should still have the antibodies.

DryHeave Tue 12-Dec-17 20:32:01

YANBU. Got a 12 day old here and several times since birth midwives have specifically said to not allow people with cold sores to kiss the baby.
