So we have to come to work in one next Friday. The thought of paying for and wearing a tacky one is killing me. Bah humbug and all that...
Is there such a thing as a nice one? I'm thinking stars or something that i could possibly wear again?
Please help, oh wise ones!

What about a fair isle pattern one? Not too garish and reusable.

Outfit themed Christmas colours?

Very stylish Green and red?!grin

Isadora2007 Thu 07-Dec-17 22:16:00

IF you don’t have one and don’t want one- wear a normal top and donate the £15 to the charity instead. It is ridiculous to pay for a jumper then donate a pound or two for the “privilege” of wearing it.

Or go buy several non Xmas jumpers and donate them to homeless people.

Mrswinkler Thu 07-Dec-17 22:16:55

Just don't do it. Even my son refuses at school. Personally can't stand them.

Rainbowandraindrops67 Thu 07-Dec-17 22:18:48

I agree with you! Ridiculous amount of waste just like with Halloween.
Wear normal clothes, decorate with tinsel or a Santa hat or something and then donate £10/15 quid to the charity

LockedOutOfMN Thu 07-Dec-17 22:22:56

Yeah make yourself a tinsel headdress or a necklace of baubles or something, don't waste the money.

I have one Christmas jumper I bought at least 12 years ago in the New Look sale and it comes out a couple of times each December then back at the bottom of the sweater drawer for another year.

ScreamingValenta Thu 07-Dec-17 22:23:06

I agree with Rainbow - that's what I always do and no one seems to mind. Brightly patterned jumpers just don't suit me, so absolutely no point buying one to wear once annually until the 'Christmas jumper' fad burns itself out.

I’m with @rainbow and @isadora.

MrsBadger Thu 07-Dec-17 22:24:56

Borrow one. I share one with my mum and my sister - our days are never on the same day.

What about one of these:

typo55 Thu 07-Dec-17 22:35:03

They have a pom pom replica in Asda for £16!

ByThePowerOfRa Thu 07-Dec-17 22:36:19

That Pom-Pom number is a steal at £60 hmm @ Boden.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow Thu 07-Dec-17 22:38:22

I like that Grinch. but fucked if I'm paying jl prices However primark has cotton cardies that could be pom pommed.

dingdongdigeridoo Thu 07-Dec-17 22:39:10

I quite like the Pom Pom one. Sadly jumpers don’t suit me.

Make your own. Just get a red or green jumper and sew some baubles or leftover tinsel to it.

Whisky2014 Thu 07-Dec-17 22:39:56

You don't HAVE to, you know?

PickAChew Thu 07-Dec-17 22:41:43

I got a lovely one from m&s, a few years ago. Grey, high wool content and shaped, with sequinned robins.

PickAChew Thu 07-Dec-17 22:42:40

The markses one I got was half the price of the Borden one!

BrownTurkey Thu 07-Dec-17 22:43:04

Can I lower the tone? I had to send an outraged email this week (was considering a daily mail sadface) when dd received this in the post (she had ordered a v naice grey christmas jumper with two penguins on)shock

ByThePowerOfRa Thu 07-Dec-17 22:46:17

Daily Mail sad face forthwith! Op, I’ve changed my mind, go with the one @brown just posted (ok not really).

AstridWhite Thu 07-Dec-17 22:48:37

It's not obligatory, surely? I quite like the idea of a silly Christmas jumper tradition, it's harmless fun. But if you can't afford it or just don't want to do it then don't.

thatcatpidgeon Thu 07-Dec-17 22:52:51

A very expensive solution- but I covet these every year (can’t actually afford it though):

FlashTheSloth Thu 07-Dec-17 22:53:40

I've got a really nice one from Dorothy Perkins, ivory with a sequinned reindeer. Not tacky at all. They have a few nice ones, with a snowflake or some sparkle on. I like Christmas jumpers though.

Curlyshabtree Thu 07-Dec-17 22:57:57

I have a sparkly cardy I wheel out for events such as this....keeps the festive crew off my back.

HermionesRightHook Thu 07-Dec-17 23:00:47

Plain coloured jumper, black, red, green, whatever you have, and safety pin some baubles you already have to it. Bonus points if you are large of chest and can dangle some.
