AIBU?

To think pate is not a breakfast food?!

Have just had a conversation with DH about breakfast on Christmas day (inspired by the thread on here) as we are spending it at his parents this year. He said they might have pate on toast! He then went on to say he thinks it's weird that when we have it, it's for lunch as it's a breakfast food? Not a problem on Christmas as I can just have jam on my toast but AIBU to think it's not a breakfast food? I told him I would get MN opinions

I would have it for breakfast. It does on toast, ergo its breakfast food.

Personally I don't think salmon is breakfast food but people do it.

I can't judge - we have squid and olives for breakfast on Christmas day, along with chocolates from the selection boxes, so am not best placed to comment :-)

All food can be breakfast food :D

It’s all going in the same place, your stomach can’t tell the difference

It’s a breakfast food if you eat it for breakfast. Clearly it a breakfast food for your husband’s family.

God I love pate on toast (can’t find the posh “e”)
Bit of onion chutney too. I’d eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

I like pate on toast for breakfast, but I hate cereal. I like being weird.

My Polish friend had pate for breakfast every day.

We often had pate on toast for breakfast around Christmas when I was a child so I don't think it is that odd. Although it was only at Christmas we would have it for breakfast, the rest of the year it would be later in the day.

I haven't had pate on toast for breakfast for years now but might revive it this year!

I agree with you that it's not a traditional breakfast food but there's no reason why you couldn't have it it's no different than other breakfast meats.

DP sometimes has pate on toast for breakfast (but he's one of those "continental types" Wink).

Personally I can't stand it - the smell is just too much for me at that time of the day

Just me on my own with my jam then Grin

There's always pate on offer at breakfast when you go on holiday abroad. I've never eaten it here though
