AIBU?

To think that this is inappropriate and unnecessary.

This is far from problem of the year. In fact just a minor irritation. Just want to know why a company selling teenage clothes think this is necessary.
I ordered an item of clothing for my 15yr old. Neither she nor I are shy or retiring pearl clutchers. However I am a bit irked by the packaging that this item arrived in.
Please explain if I am simply being too thick to 'get' it - but really? 'Feminists' ? 'Girl-gang' ? 'Contains Dope Shit' ? AIBU to think this company is just trying too hard and it's all a bit unnecessary and annoying.

Nothing wrong with it.

I'd rather it said Feminists than "sexy" or "bitches"

It's try hard tacky

They're not marketing it at you are they? In fact I think the fact that parents would be a bit disapproving would probably make it all the more attractive to their target market.

It is try hard and totally cringe.

I think inappropriate must be the most overused word on here. It's aimed at kids, who will presumably think it is cool. My nearly 15 year old would certainly think so.

It’s a bit cringe, probably concocted by some middle aged marketing people who think they’re all hipster.

Do kids still say dope?!

I agree that it's try hard in a FCUK kind of way amd would put money on it being designed by people far too old to say that stuff in real life.

It looks very "tumblr", I guess that's cool right now? But oh my, that's nauseatingly cringeworthy.

Yep they are trying to impress the kids, I’m more pissed off about the bag being a plastic bag to be honest.

I think a lot of what's cool and fashionable now is god awful and cringey come to think of it!

It's just a bit tumblr or instagram culture ish, very cringe really but a teen would probably like it

I'm in my twenties and think its quiet cool. What company is it?

It's a bit try-hard. Where does it say 'feminists'? I forgive it slightly for that.

I looked at the blurb on a bag of coffee beans recently from some achingly hipsterish roaster. It said something about how they thought other coffees could fuck off.

I am a bit of a coffee bore and snob, and I swear like a trucker, but even I thought 'Oh, shut up, how childish.'

Most of the comments here think its trying too hard and tacky. Are you sure you're in the right echo chamber?

Its not aimed at my age group. Presumably they have tested it out first on the targeted age group? If their target market like it, then they are getting it right. If not, they will lose money.

What shop is that?

It's horrible. Never mind what my dd thinks, I'm the one who holds the purse strings and wouldn't order from a company that sent stuff out in packaging like that.

So tacky and tryhard.

Feminist, fuck the boys club... isn't 15 too young to be this bitter? I thought that stage began much later in life, after years or abusive bad boys relationship, being dumped by husband for the 23 yo intern etc...

Feminists followed by Fuck the boys club? Way to go, perpetuating the Feminists are man haters trope. That’ll advance the cause. Not.
