Did an online order for various day to day clothes on 24th November.

Had 3 emails since saying my order is nearly ready for despatch but they are "very busy at the moment" (go figure Hmm). Email received yesterday said it would be an additional 3 to 4 days.

Just not good enough and will be my first and last online order from such an incompetent company.

And yes, I would tweet them but I don't tweet.

This happens every year with them. Ordered an outfit for my work Xmas party last year on November 15th, it arrived January 9th despite assurances it was ready for dispatch. They couldn't cancel the order either

Hope you sent it back Sugarhunny?!

I think the company may be struggling. A good deal of their stuff appears in our local surplus/cheapo shop.

My first and last dealings with them were nearly 20 years ago when I was at uni. I had ordered catalogue to my parents' address and then wanted to order something to my uni address; I was accused of lying about where I lived, despite explaining situation, lying about how I had come about being in possession of a catalogue (at the time not online, you had to phone up and order catalogue) and lying about my intentions (ordering trousers for myself). I think I told them to stuff their trousers. Haven't looked at them since.

I've tried to order stuff from them this year, after years of not having anything to do with them because of their ludicrously long delivery times.

Both times the order came within a week, but both times the dresses I ordered were too big, despite looking at the size guide. One was a jumper dress and was so scratchy, I would have been ripping it off in five minutes.

They have a really stupid sizing system for some of their clothes too. 8-10 or 12-14. I want a true size please. I won't be ordering anything from them again.

I ordered around the same date and it has arrived today. Stuff for Christmas so not an issue for me but yes delivery does seem to take a while. I only ever buy from there when they have 40 or 50% off, I got 2 lovely coats last month for £56.
Sizes come big in ladies and small in kids.

I used to use them a lot, but they were always slow to deliver. I haven't used them in years. Yanbu.

I used them a few years ago and sometimes received the wrong thing. The worst best was when I ordered a size 16 coat and got a pair of size 8 bikini bottoms instead. I stopped shopping with them after that.

I use them, they are notoriously slow to deliver.

Report

It's because they've had a 40% off everything going on over the last month or so on and off, so their deliveries take forever.

I use them for their children's ski suits, those things are invincible, and the DCs branded trainers I always buy in their sales. I'd never expect an order to be delivered inside a fortnight though.

Used them once a couple of months ago. Awful, will never use again which is a shame as I love their household stuff

Report
TealStar · 07/12/2017 21:54

Yep, I used them to stock up on trainers at ‘half price’ —even though their full price is significantly more than most retailers—and the last dregs of the three orders I made at the beginning of November are only just coming in!

Their returns are shockingly slow too, and don’t get me started on their customer service where the only way to contact is to sit in a call queue for hours... rather ironically they have some spurious ‘customer service award’ thing on their site.

I would approach this company with causation and only order when it’s 100% a bargain and you don’t mind waiting for ages!

Caution not causation! Grin

I ordered six or seven items from them. Most of it was huge. Bizarrely huge. And some of it was pretty poor quality. I only kept one thing. I liked the boys teeshirts but I wouldn’t get anything for myself again.

I had a similar experience. Never used again and wont.

That's a shame, I like their kids' clothes. But I buy them a year too big in the sale and wait for their "everything with an extra 50% off discount" before I buy. They're generally good quality and nicer designs than on the highstreet.

I’m still waiting for a coat I ordered ages ago. By the time it arrives it will no doubt be cheaper in the Jan sales 🙄

LA Redoute are only any good for their brushed cotton sheets and Levi jeans when they are on offer. Everything else is crap.

I’m not sure they’re struggling, at least not financially

  • same thing happened to me 5 years ago (DD was a toddler so more or less around then). It took months, not weeks, I cancelled it in the end. Shisters.

Bloody Zulily delivers quicker and with them you at least know why the process takes so long.

I ordered something which should have arrived in time for me to send abroad to my niece with the rest of her presents. Got an email to say they are experiencing delays due to exceptionally high demand. Which means i'll have to post it separately, therefore paying an extra £8 for overseas delivery.

I’m still salty several years ago I ordered a fancy coat for my dh Christmas present, in November. Still no sign by end of January so I cancelled. Didn’t have any spare cash at time so couldn’t get him anything else for Christmas, he was very disappointed.

I used to be a customer and had used them for about 16 years with no serious issues. A lot of the time if they advised an item would be delayed by about two weeks, it would actually arrive in one week. So not so bad.

Most recently I ordered a pair of swimming trunks for my 8 year old boy. I actually got a size 8 dress. There would be raised eyebrows if he tried wearing that at his swimming lesson...

I have given up with them because of trying to keep track of my payments online. I would always buy with the same pattern: order quite a few items, return some/none, pay for the ones I kept, promptly. For YEARS. Then my payments were showing as taken but actually hadn't. Maybe not their fault, but did they need to charge me for not paying when I had a payment reference number to quote to them to show I had tried to pay?

Amazing that they would prefer to lose a customer of 16 years for the sake of an admin fee. And no apology for the dress, even.

I used to use them for dd clothes, maybe 14/10 years ago. They were great. I had no problems with them except I once ordered trousers in the wrong size (or maybe they sent the wrong size). I phoned and sent the trousers back and got the right ones very quickly.

I always found them helpful and efficient.

Was I just lucky?

Report
PeaPodPopper · 07/12/2017 22:31

I used to use them periodically as money wasn't in abundance at that time.
Once I started full time work I sent in a new order only to receive a letter through the post - in the days before email/internet - to tell me that as I didn't spend enough money with them the previous year, they had cancelled my account!
