It's raining and I don't want to shop. There's no meat in the house at all.

I have the usual rice and pasta in addition to

Sweet potatoes
Ordinary potatoes
Spring onions
Fresh tomatoes
Cans of butter beans, lentils, tomatoes and mixed beans
Various herbs and spices...quite a lot
Fresh basil

Any ideas? No burger buns or would have made vegie burgers.

Should have mentioned eggs and milk and butter!

Pasta sauce and pasta
Stew with rice
Potato rosti
Bean/lentil based salad with roasted veg
Veg fritters
Veg curry

Honestly the list goes on...

I'd make a vege and butter bean stew

I would do a sweetpot/pot dauphinoise with brocolli and carrots on the side.

Hopefully you have cheese though so it bubbles nicely.

CheapSausagesAndSpam Thu 07-Dec-17 02:35:38

Oh I do have cheese! Thanks for all the ideas...Blue I'm not sure what a sweetpot is! Can you advise on a recipe please?

CheapSausagesAndSpam Thu 07-Dec-17 02:36:26

Oh it's shortf for sweet potato! Lol...I thought it was some special kind of stew!

CheapSausagesAndSpam Thu 07-Dec-17 02:37:39

Damn...all the sweet potato Dauphinoise seem to want garlic and cream. sad

condepetie Thu 07-Dec-17 02:40:21

Is that literally all you have

Like if you have a can of coconut milk you can do a fantastic sweet potato and veg curry thing with all your spices and lentils. Even if you don't have the coconut milk if you have anything like curry powder and a stock cube you can do a pretty nice veg dahl thing, with much veg and lentils.

BluePlasticBuddha Thu 07-Dec-17 02:40:35

sorry. I annoyed myself even when I was shortening sweet potatoes to sweetpot...but am tired so typing the whole wordseemed a step too far.

I only use milk and cheese in my dauphinoise.... but lots and lots of cheese!

JollyGiraffe Thu 07-Dec-17 02:41:20

I would do a vegetable chilli with a potato or sweet potato and some cheese

Jacket potatoes/sweet potatoes (each person gets half of both) with a salsa made from sauteed chopped tomatoes and onions and loads of butter and salt.

Or a mixed bean stew with onion, tinned tomatoes, butter beans and mixed beans along with chopped chunks of potato.

Or beanburgers (squish the mixed and butterbeans, add spring onions and herbs with an egg and a bit of plain flour,) with mash and tinned tomatoes.

Or a pasta bake, tinned and fresh tomatoes with onion for the sauce, add pasta and broccoli.

Or a risotto. Rice with chunks of onion, sweet potato, broccoli and tomato.

Cond literally. I usually have stock and coconut cream but not today.

Blue Lol at you annoying yourself! Thanks for the tip...I think I'll try it!

Cheesy pasta with brocolli and wholegrain mustard is really tasty too.

TheHodgeHeg Thu 07-Dec-17 03:33:28

I'd do a tomato risotto if you have risotto rice. Otherwise tomato sauce with pasta.

CheapSausagesAndSpam Thu 07-Dec-17 03:34:53

Thanks all I've made a sweet potato gratin thing. I hate risotto for some reason. I think it's the "fat" rice!

Tomato sauce with pasta wouldn't fly without any bacon or anchovies or anything.
