To think it's not ok to park like this

We've recently moved and it appears parking around here is a catastrofuck. Luckily we're not part of the melee as we're one of the few houses with a drive and off street parking. I walk a lot though and I have an almost 2 year old and am 39 weeks pregnant. Very soon I'll be schlepping a double buggy up and down these pavements and almost every dropped kerb is blocked by a car. I'm annoyed that I'll be having to bump my babies onto the road to get past cars. I mean look at this prick, talk about Park-It-Like-You-Stole-it. You'd be able to see fuck all trying to pull out of that junction.

I appreciate there is little parking on this road but I reckon they'd find a legal space if they were prepared to walk for 10 or 15 minutes so it's laziness.

What can I do? I saw some You are Parked Like a Cunt stickers that you can pop on to the drivers window to let them know. If you complain to the council would they send some traffic wardens out? They'd make a killing. I don't want to immediately piss off the new neighbours but do want to address it somehow.

@Oysterbabe Just keep snapping away and email the council with your evidence. This joker is taking the piss tbh. Very dangerous.

Park-It-Like-You-Stole-It Xmas Grin

I would get some stickers AND contact the council.

He is parked illegally.. im sure by law you must leave a certain distance from a junction? Call the council or 101?

Definitely report this twat to the cops as he is parked illegally. I would take pics and report to council for others though, you could get, into trouble for the stickers although I would love to do it round here too!

Are they parked like that all day? I ask because I live in a road (older than cars) that doesn't have enough parking (even with permits). Sometimes people have to park like "cunts" but as long as there is enough room for emergency vehicles to get by and you're not blocking anyone in, we all generally let it 'go'.

The main problem are the parking ticketing people who happily come out really late and really early or on a Sunday knowing full well that some people will have to 'cunt park', even though they aren't lazy because there are too many Resident Permits and not enough spaces.

ah, of course, it's an audi.

OP you sound like you have a mouth on you so whatever you do I hope they appreciate it Grin

Not great parking obviously but not everyone can walk 15 minutes to park. I certainly couldn't with three small kids and so parked badly a few times. Of course repeat offenders are different!

actually that might be a mercedes still a czunt though.

I'd leave it. Clearly there is a major parking problem in that area. 10-15 mins is too far to walk once you've driven home imo. Like today, I arrived home with a boot full of assorted family crap. It took me 3 trips to the car to unload. Luckily I live rurally so I can park by my house. But can you imagine unloading that, from 15 mins away - it'd take you 75 mins!

I'm with rcit. It's not ideal but residential roads are so busy these days we all need to squish in.

First time I reported a car a pcso came round and ticketed it. Now I ring 101 and follow up with email and car photo, had couple of feedbacks , clearly the police/ council are really busy but there are times they've contacted the car owner. For those who say to leave it you wouldn't say that if it was your child hit by a car as there is no pavement available. Sadly this happened nearby to us a few years ago, it was only low speed but the toddler had multiple injuries.

Print some pages from highway code and tape them to the window, report to council for sure, what an inconsiderate twat

opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles
on a bend

Report
OvO · 05/12/2017 21:34

Clearly those saying leave it aren't disabled either. Trying getting about with a walker or wheelchair etc when the dropped curbs are blocked!

It is difficult in some roads. I live in a little fishing town with lots of windy roads. The few roads that are wide enough to be parked on are absolutely rammed with people parking similar to above photo. In the 30 years I’ve lived here I’ve never seen a traffic warden in my road. I think some roads they just leave to it as there’s no other option (in my town there really is no other option - it’s a choice of about 6 roads or one car park nearly a mile away).

AuntLydia · 05/12/2017 21:38

I think some of the responses on here show you the mindset unfortunately 'but...but...but' - everyone can come up with an excuse for why they personally should be able to park like a twat. It's the same outside my kids school; double parking so bad emergency services can't get through, parking right on pavements and crossings creating blind spots for kids and parents crossing the road. When it's discussed on a Facebook parent group all the shitty excuses come out. Nobody wants to take responsibility if it means inconveniencing themselves.

The Merc estate is by far the worst. The others look like an ambulance or fire engine would probably be able to get past. The Merc is asking for someone to misjudge that bend and smash it!

It's not right to park there but the OP says she has a drive! What can you do if you really can't find ANYWHERE to park? Desperation sets in. Noone wants to park badly and risk a fine.

Some police forces are starting to cracke down on this as it’s dangerous for other Highway users. It’s a £100 fine and points on your licence
There was a piece yesterday on local news uploaded to twitter

It may take 75 minutes to unload but it’s worth every minute rather than endanger a life and someone get killed
