To put lottery scratchcards in crackers for my mates?

H thinks I am. Has gone off on one about not being made of money etc etc.

To put this in context he went out to an event last weekend. Ticket cost £50. The amount of booze sunk would have cost god knows what else on top (a whole other story).

My meal with friends this evening will cost me about £20. I won’t be drinking as I’m working tomorrow.

He is a stingy fuckwit of the lowest sort and I am extremely angry that he sees fit to comment on when I chose to spend £8 on having a bit of s laugh with my friends. How bloody dare he?

You sound like a thoughtful friend. I love this idea and m8ght even be cheeky enough to steal it for our homemade Xmas day crackers. Men can be a selfish bunch at times. Just smile and say bah humbug.

My grandparents used to do this. Bit of fun during dinner.

Sounds like crackers aren't really the root of the issue though.

I'd do it. My dad had his 70th back in September and I bought him a tenners worth. Lucky bugger won almost £30!! It's a nice, novelty gift and it won't break the back. Tell your DH to wind his neck in.

I do make your own crackers. In them I put hat, joke, scratch card, miniature shower gel (body shop size is good for mine) and 3 celebrations chocolates. The scratch cars always go down well!

YANBU scratch cards have been the generally accepted gift between cousins in my family for a while now.
It can be a sharp intake of breath when you buy them all at once tbf.
But it's a nice way to give something these days.

My MIL does this. She was bloody fuming when my card had £200 on it.

Blahblah that's hilarious! She buys you scratchcards, but doesn't accident want you to win a decent sum!

I hope you didn't share your winnings Xmas Wink

Blah blah, I was gutted when my dad won his cash. Happy, but gutted 😂

She had won £5 30 seconds earlier and had insisted that prizes weren't for sharing Xmas Grin

Fuck him. He’ll not be getting his scratchy in his stocking. I’ll bloody Scratch it myself. And if I win £2 I’ll not share it with him either.

That's hilarious blah. What did you do - did you share in the end? I would find it hard I think not to share winnings on a scratchcard that someone had given me in a cracker, and we were all opening them at the same time. I wouldn't expect anyone to share their winnings with me if I had given them the scratchcard cracker though. Its just that I don't think I could do it. But against the background of her previously refusing to share her £5.30, I would understand if you didn't share your £200!!

I do this every Christmas and for every friends birthday - one friend once won £100 - she was so bloody happy - it's a bit of fun & he sounds like a cock

I paid for a nice pub lunch for everyone and treated myself with the left overs. I don't think MIL would have done the same!

I wouldn't - how would you feel if they won a fortune?

Love this idea Xmas Grin

Senior If my friend won a fortune I'd be delighted for them because they're my friend. It's not like it's a straight choice between 'buy myself 12 scratchcards and scratch em all myself' OR 'buy 12 scratchcards and put one in each cracker'. If I hadn't bought the 12 for the crackers I wouldn't have bought 12 just for me so the fortune winning card would end up being purchased by a random stranger some time in early/mid January instead.
