Two words: taking responsibility

Maturity is the sad and thorough realisation that not taking responsibility always bites you on the arse in the end.

Rising above the trivia.

Yep, it's being responsible and not expecting other people to look after you.

As a mature person (over 60) I think your life experiences make you mature, therefore I am very mature in some areas, but possibly not in others. I would define maturity as knowing that whatever happens, good or bad, it will pass, and life achieves some kind of balance. It's learning not to worry unduly about anything, because it will make no difference to the outcome. Life is short, try and enjoy it.
