DH licks his fingers to turn the pages of the newspaper.
Every Single Page. (I watched him)
I told him it was disgusting and spreads germs, but he's in a sulk now.

To me, it's right up there with women spitting on hankies to wipe round their children's mouths. yuck.

For context I'm not usually precious about germs, just this. Apparently.

Not as bad as magazines etc in bathrooms for use when defecating. (Reading not wiping obvs). Boak.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer Sat 02-Dec-17 12:29:38

He's your husband presumably there is only you and him that read the paper?

runwalkrun Sat 02-Dec-17 12:30:22

If IABVU I will apologize.
Can't be doing with a weekend long man sulk.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks Sat 02-Dec-17 12:30:25

D'you never kiss him then?

Chrys2017 Sat 02-Dec-17 12:30:37

It's vile! I'd get him one of those rubber thingies for his Christmas gift!
Thimblettes, I believe they're called.

Newspapers are bad. But what about when he eats crisps?

People who lick their fingers and then put them back in the bag to get more crisps make me feel sick. If it's a small bag I don't look, but if it's a sharer bag or bowl... envy (not envy!)

TrinitySquirrel Sat 02-Dec-17 12:31:17

Yeah unless you're rubbing the page on your eyeball straight after you'll be pretty much ok.

Also it's the same germs as when you kiss him. Or is that no longer something you do?

runwalkrun Sat 02-Dec-17 12:31:41

Surely that's how colds are spread?

MumGoneMild Sat 02-Dec-17 12:31:56

What's a tiny bit of licked finger going to do?
Presumably you've had worse parts of him in your mouth.

ThroughThickAndThin01 Sat 02-Dec-17 12:32:17

It's fairly natural to do that.

runwalkrun Sat 02-Dec-17 12:32:24

I manage to turn the pages without licking my fingers, so it's obviously a bad habit.

Nyx1 Sat 02-Dec-17 12:32:43

oh it's foul

I no longer lend out books because of this. I have to try not to think about it when I get books from the library.

Butterfr33 Sat 02-Dec-17 12:32:59

You're not his mother, leave him alone.

runwalkrun Sat 02-Dec-17 12:33:41

oh it's foul

A kindred spirit.

runwalkrun Sat 02-Dec-17 12:34:15

what about coffee shops where they have complimentary newspapers?
I don't want flob all over my fingers shock

ThroughThickAndThin01 Sat 02-Dec-17 12:35:24

Too late, I think you may have got a bit of flob on your fingers OP.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer Sat 02-Dec-17 12:35:34

I drop crumbs on the paper if I'm eating a rather crusty cob at the time of reading..I'd find that more annoying picking the paper up and crumbs dropping everywhere.

runwalkrun Sat 02-Dec-17 12:35:54

It's fairly natural to do that.

But is it natural?

His parents both lick their fingers so I expect it was how he was brought up, a learned behaviour.
None of my siblings lick our fingers and I don't remember seeing my parents do it.

It's a disgusting learned behaviour. It's not natural.

Margomyhero Sat 02-Dec-17 12:35:58

It's worse when the assistant selling me cakes in the local bakery does it to open the bag.

ZigZagandDustin Sat 02-Dec-17 12:36:12

Oh lighten up.

Rebeccaslicker Sat 02-Dec-17 12:36:22

Or... double dipping!!!! shock

runwalkrun Sat 02-Dec-17 12:37:05

Is this grounds for Divorce? grin

daisypond Sat 02-Dec-17 12:37:54

It wouldn't bother me.

kaytee87 Sat 02-Dec-17 12:39:59

Wouldn't bother me. I reckon most germs wouldn't live long on paper anyway. He's your husband so you will catch his germs either way.
