Anyone else a massive fan and still gutted that he's gone? He's the only "celeb" I've ever been truly emotional about when he died 😞

SilverySurfer Fri 01-Dec-17 16:43:43

i'm sorry he died so young and I enjoyed some of his work but no, not really.

PerditaSinjorino Fri 01-Dec-17 16:47:46

Oh God, yeah. The guy had me crying with laughter. Gutted he's not here any more.

Dottie39 Fri 01-Dec-17 16:49:10

Abso-bloody-lutely! He was awesome.

I'm sorry he died young, but his gurning irritated the hell out of me.

Sparklingbrook Fri 01-Dec-17 16:50:39

I love Rik Mayall, he is one of the few that made me cry with laughter. I was showing DS1 some You Tube clips of 'Kevin Turvey Investigates' not long ago.

His partnership with Ade Edmondson was brilliant.

No comedians today really do it for me.

The man was a bloody funny bastard, my childhood hero

"No comedians today really do it for me."

I feel the same. There is nobody else that can make me cry with laughter like he could. I like Ricky Gervais but he's not in the same league as Rik

He didn't do it for me- old boyfriend loved him though

Sparklingbrook Fri 01-Dec-17 16:55:15

Yes, I wish there was a comedian who could make me cry with laughter now but there really isn't.

I used to love Ben Elton's stand up too back in the day.

Maybe I have changed. But can't watch Peter Kay or Michael McIntyre etc because I just don't think they are funny.

juddyrockingcloggs Fri 01-Dec-17 16:55:45

Lord Flashheart. The funniest funny thing ever!

He was an absolute comedy genius.

Bottom Ranks third in my all time favourite comedies only being beaten by Monty Python (nothing funnier) and Blackadder!

SandyDenny Fri 01-Dec-17 16:57:46

No not for me either, I didn't find his kind of comedy funny. I'm sure he would have done some stuff that I would have laughed at but for me there are much funnier people.

Sparklingbrook Fri 01-Dec-17 16:59:05

The episode of Bottom where they played Chess was genius, and not forgetting the camping trip.

Before Bottom there was a series called 'Filthy Rich and Catflap' which was basically Bottom, but I have never seen it repeated so not sure about that. Nigel Planer was in it.

Redglitter Fri 01-Dec-17 17:01:36

No I didn't find him at all funny

BabsGangoush Fri 01-Dec-17 17:04:23

No. Not my humour.

Sparklingbrook Fri 01-Dec-17 17:04:44

Woof! grin

Agustarella Fri 01-Dec-17 17:04:59

YANBU! Funniest man ever, and my son's all time hero. Rik stole every scene he was ever in.

Feilin Fri 01-Dec-17 17:07:51

Loved him. Filthy rich and catflap was great

Sandyfeet101 Fri 01-Dec-17 17:08:01

I met him after watching Bottom Live in 2005 and he was lovely.

elQuintoConyo Fri 01-Dec-17 17:10:50

I fancied him as Alan B'Stard blush

He was great, i miss him.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy Fri 01-Dec-17 17:11:14

'Mould, Frankenstein and Grrr' still makes me laugh!

I adored Rik.

Bottom, The New Statesman, Filthy, Rich & Catflap, The Young Ones, The Comic Strip... all of it!!!

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy Fri 01-Dec-17 17:11:47

Oh yes, forgot he was in Blackadder too!

surferjet Fri 01-Dec-17 17:13:55

The young ones was ok( ish) but I found them all a bit silly schoolboy.

PippaPiper Fri 01-Dec-17 17:14:08

Yanbu, he was such a big part of my adolescence, I watched everything he was in, a very sad loss.
