To wish DH would sort Xmas arrangements with the ILs

And not leave it to me!

Xmas hosting always an awkward subject with PIL. They always used to host and it was a big deal when a while ago we insisted on having Xmas at home (with them invited to us).

This year DH wondered if we should let PIL host as they and our DC getting older. DD (13) said wants to stay at home. I said not fussed but I wanted DH to sort it.

Nearly December. He hasn’t sorted it. He even had lunch with MIL yesterday and didn’t have a conclusive conversation.

Is it petty of me to insist DH sorts this even if it takes until Christmas Eve?? I have lots of stuff going on with my own elderly dad/extended family and don’t see why I should deal with ILs also!

My DC similar age and hate Christmas Day not at home. Been to ILs a couple of times and not doing it again.

I’d get a Christmas card ready to send early next week with a note in saying “looking forward to seeing you at ours on 25th!” - show it to DH to spur him on to have The Chat.

We are seeing ILs at weekend so MIL will probably crack and ask what arrangements are first leading to awkward tumbleweed moment that i then have to sort out or it seems really rude.

And DH will have avoided sorting out difficult situation with his side yet again!

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I intend to leave it, arrange xmas here and if he hasnt sorted it i time then he can just to a Vicar of Dibley and eat here then go over to them and eat christmas dinner all over again on behalf of the 4 of us. and I hope it chokes him

Surely your DH or the ILs will crack before Xmas day though MrsWooster?

I wouldn't bet on it. One year DH and his 4 siblings played chicken to see who could hold out the longest before committing to having MIL.
