Dp wants to take ds age 3 to the touring coco cola truck next week. It's a 30 min drive.to nearest city and it's oh so very chilly these recent days. Am I being a miserable old bag in not wanting to go! In my mind I don't think there will be much to do? Just get afew photos and then What?? Has anybody been before? Would a 3 year old enjoy it?

It’s just a delivery truck with cocacola on the side isn’t it?

You’d probably have a better time st the park.

We went last year when it was at Wembley.
Luckily we arrived before it was ‘open’ to the public and they were still setting up. We didn’t get any of the bits that you would get while the event was on but we did get some fab photos with no one around.
The way they were setting it up they were expecting huge crowds so think it would have been a move forward for a photo, have photo, move away type situation to get everyone through!
I liked seeing it but am glad I didn’t have to wait in a line to do so!!

Is very shit. Unaccountably popular. I believe they don't even lob tins of free cola at folk.

Harrumphh.

Following with interest. I’ve always assumed it would be utterly shit so never bothered going, even when it’s been 15 mins away!

I imagine it is, yes.

A lorry delivering Coke. What the eff does that have to do with Christmas?

I don't get it. It's a lorry. Confused

It’s practically a swear word in our house. A couple of years ago it caused chaos around all the local roads and DH ended up being 3 hours late on his journey home from work. Not a ho ho ho in sight. Plan your escape route carefully ...

Well, I missed it this year and I have a kid the same age. DP did see it and was very disappointed, I doubt a 3 year old would give a heck.

When did this start? I only heard of it last year.

I don't get it or the hype around the 'it's only Christmas once the Coca Cola advert has been on' brigade. Have we really dumbed down to being mouth breathing, all consuming, dazzled by bright lights and product placement consumer pigs who believe a soft drinks company means Christmas.

I fucking hope not.

That said, I hope you have a nice day out if you do go.

It’s a lot shit. A lorry, with some lights on it.

It’s literally five minutes away from me tomorrow so going to bring dd nearly 3 so I’ll let you know. Dh has no work so said we may as well. Will report back and let you know.

I’ve seen it, made me feel a bit Christmassy. I just saw it as an opportunity to go Christmas shopping and see the the coke truck as an added bonus.

A 3 year old wouldn’t give a damn though.

We came out of a carol service one year and the Coca Cola truck was parked outside.

We went over expecting some sort of "event", only to find a massive queue of people waiting in turn for one of those mini cans of coke, and a couple of local "traders" selling glowsticks and similar tat. That was it. I asked if we had missed something / something was about to happen. No, that was the entire thing. It is bizarre.

We went a few years ago. Kids got a tiny can of free coke. I wouldn't have made a special trip for it but were going into town anyway .

My dp seems to think there will be other stuff goin on like stalls, kiddie rides...

But I'm not convinced!

We saw it this wk, was a huge queue - for what I'm not sure - I think a can of mini warm coke? And a chance to take a selfie!
We just saw it from a distance and carried on with our shopping. Defo wouldn't make an effort to go and see it!!

It’s not even that big a lorry, I was disappointed when I saw it in a local supermarket car park whilst doing my shopping. I thought it would be one of those big ol’ American trucks but it’s just normal size with a strip of LED lighting around the edges of the cab and trailer Confused

sooperdooper · 29/11/2017 22:44

I've seen it when it happened to be outside a shopping centre near us, I wouldn't make a special trip for it, it's just a branded truck, there's nothing to actually do

When it came to our town it caused utter chaos on the surrounding roads. They tend to time it around rush hour which isn't ideal. Comments on Facebook were that people queued for hours. Not something that would interest me but even if it did the idea of traffic chaos would be enough to put me off.

It's hugely shit. I dragged my ds and dp to the 'event' at Newquay last year, it was rainy, it was freezing, we waited in line for over an hour excited that something was about to happen, got to the front aaannnddd......fuck all. Absolutely. Fuck. All. Whilst dealing with the anti-climax of it all, and a very very teasey 4 year old because it was way past bedtime, it took over an hour to get out of Newquay because everyone else had the same shit idea.

Honestly, don't bother!

I've always quite fancied seeing it, but never to the extent that I would bother to go. It is, after all, just a lorry and logically I know that it's stupid. Then it drove past my house a few nights ago and I was pathetically thrilled Grin
