So... we cancelled our honeymoon to Mauritius as I found out I conceived VERY quickly after the wedding Grin

I'm not that bothered about missing the holiday but DH is - more along the lines of "we will never have another luxury holiday once DS is here" (end of Jan)

Hoping to book something short haul next summer;

Please tell me...

a) if you can recommend WHAT kind of summer/pool holiday will work with a 6m old

b) if you have any recommendations

Hmm

I think it depends what you are in to and if you want somwhere with a crèche for the baby so you still get child free time. I’ve heard good things about sansatori for luxury or mark warner for activity holidays x

In answer to the first bit of the question, you should aim for when weather is not too hot but warm enough to use the pool, and definitely outside of school holidays (maybe June in Europe).

Somewhere with a crèche option will be set up for small children anyway (even if you just go to the stay and play type sessions and don’t want to actually leave baby there).

Look into Corsica. Stunning white sand beaches, beautiful towns and comes with a luxury price tag ;)

Really can't recommend it enough - it's my favourite holiday spot in Europe.

Powder Byrne have loads of beautiful short haul resorts - from memory Elba, Sani, Portugal, as well as some long haul ones too. They also have crèche facilities from 6 months with fully trained nursery nurses, and offer babysitting. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Check out the Scott Dunn website, we've used a couple of hotels recommended on there (but booked ourselves through BA as it worked out a lot cheaper). Most have crèches and are geared up for families. We've gone in May/June previously (avoiding school holidays while we still can) and the weather has been ideal for little ones.

Also, we stayed at one where we upgraded to our own little pool (v.reasonable cost as it was outside of peak time, the cost during school hols was eye watering!). It meant when DD was napping we could sit outside on our terrace and have swim and when she was awake it was easy to keep her out of the sun and take her into the air conditioned room if we needed to.

Have a look at the Sani resort in Greece. Lots of very child friendly options and very classy. I used to work for a luxury tour operator and some of their travel consultants are very knowledgeable about luxury family holidays and their prices are very competitive. PM me if you like am sure I can put you in touch with someone who can give you a load more ideas.
