AIBU?

To hide everyone on my FB who does Elf on the Shelf?

《Disclaimer: It doesnt bother me one jot that people participate in the Elf on the Shelf bandwaggon》

But why share it every single fucking day on facebook? And everyone who does it, shares it. They are like vegans: Enthusiastic, vocal and absoloutley overbearing about it.

Do it
Dont do it
But honestly, no one outside your home cares what the elf got up to last night. Or how bloody marvellous a parent you are. Or how ingenious your arrangements are.

Someone just mentioned something on FB about "upping their elf game this year" and it all came FLOODING BACK.

Im just going to have to hide everyone til Jan. Like a sort of elf hibernation.

I am guilty of this I love elf on the shelf and get carried away I do share pics on FB mainly because the friends I have find it hilarious and also have elves in their homes so we find sharing fun. Also it gives us ideas for our elves Smile

YANBU

All the naughty things the elf gets up to while ensuring the children behave, confusing, and a bit annoying once you have seen one.

I don’t see the point of the thread, it’s your Facebook, hide the people if you don’t like it, even delete them, it’s facebook.

YANBU for me it’s people who insist on sharing pictures of their tea. I have some on there (or did!) who do it every bloody night!

Glad I’m not friends with you haha I’ll be doing elf on the shelf this year as mine are old enough to understand.
But no UNBU. I’ve unfollowed a very good friend as she only posts of food, this is my tea, this is my supper. I do understand how things can be so annoying xx

It’s bizarre how people hate the idea of being watched and snooped on by the government or whatever, yet are totally fine with setting up elves and Santa Cams etc. It’s just creepy. If they want to do it, fine, but it is weird.

YANBU. I have no shame in admitting that it makes me feel like an inadequate parent. Which I am not.

Laura ive no problem people doing it. But why share it? Its for your kids. They presumably dont need to see it on FB as they are living.

So whats the purpose of sharing it every day?

My dd saw an elf from elf on the shelf in a charity shop the other day and said it was the creepiest thing she has ever seen! 😬👍

What I used to do when the kids were little, whilst they were out the room, I'd dangle some of those little chocolate in foil santa's on the tree and say ooh the Christmas fairies have been I think, come and look at the tree! and they'd come in and take them off and eat them.

This is probably highly irrelevant information but I wanted to share! Grin

And no I didn't share this with anyone through any medium....!

Isadora2007 · 20/11/2017 20:27

When people share it it’s to show off and make it all about them and not really about their kids having a nice time. It’s a bit try hard really.
And I hate the premise of an elf spying for santa and the whole good=presents crap... it’s really not in the spirit of any Christmas I celebrate.

juddyrockingcloggs · 20/11/2017 20:29

I don’t unfriend them I unfollow them so I can’t see their posts until after Christmas! I love love love Christmas but that elf on his fucking shelf makes me stabby. The people who post photos of it are slightly less annoying than people who post about what they have done at the gym. ‘Really enjoyed Leg Day yesterday’ oh bore off you moron.

Yanbu.

The whole POINT of elf in the shelf is that you can show everyone on your social media feed how you're #blessed #makingmagic and #loveyourfamily.

It's vomit inducing.
